Dear FFG,

By Eggzavier, in Star Wars: Armada

Best post of the new year. Agreed with everything said and loved the tone of the post, humble but up front and honest.

FFG has had a tough few years with an assortment of small catastrophes and I'm glad that was mentioned but everything said was understanding of those bumps in the road, even though I think pressure from one of FFG's partners they have a contract with have been leaning on them to push out game content before a movie's release also had an affect, but I digress. Yet every suggestion is totally doable because it is about communication and that only takes corporate permission to get started. No manufacturing or money needed, just some time set aside and permission to speak on the information they have.

My only defense I will give to FFG is that back in the past they were much more open and talked about their game more openly and certain community memebers, that I don't even see anymore, were very abusive about FFG and their communications. So everything was too soon or too late and they were talking about FFG failing and Armada dying because of what information we did get. Every company gets their critics and its hard to go out and be open just to have people jump down your throat for what you said. But coming from other games and dealing with other gaming companies I am a fan of FFG's business practices but still agree with the purpose of this thread. More communication is wanted. We do get bored without official communications and we get ugly when we're bored.

Now FFG shouldn't have to, nor would I want them to even consider, dealing with ever complaint on the forums. (Can you imagine game developers and what they would be thinking reading the "Squadrons Ruined Armada" thread? I'm sure there were some choice words used to describe their feelings on that subject.) But here I think they should really consider speaking up and taking to heart.

You're a good Egg, nice post. Glad I took time to read it all.

Fantastic job, Eggzavier. I second all points without hesitation. Thank you for having the wherewithal to put fingers to keyboard and write all this out for us, the players of Armada. You are a gentleman and a scholar.

Eggzellent.

Nicely written Eggzavier. I agree with point 3 and mostly to point 1. But for point 2, I'm either confused what you are asking for or kind of disagree. I think the content FFG should be responsible for is the game, the ships and cards and rules. Even if Wave 5 and CC were the last things we got, that should be plenty for us to generate discussion on our own.

I'd love more communication between the developers and dedicated player base.

Bump for much deserved visibility.

He'd like more stuff like tactics articles, interviews with top players, some more scenarios like Take The Station. That kind of thing.

Very good post. I think it will get noticed, due to it's professional tact. Thanks for echoing what a lot of us feel, on the positive and negative sides of these issues.

Thank you for the kind words and feedback everyone.

I'm pleased to see that many echo my concerns, but in a positive and constructive way.

I'll be sure to post any sort of response I receive directly.

Cheers!

<bump> again :)

Much agreed. This is a well thought out list of things that you feel that FFG could improve upon - a list that I am inclined to agree with. Many kudos and props unto you for being articulate and well-reasoned.

Eggzactly!

To the top of the list!

Hi, FFG, you aren't doing what I want, so I am going to rant on the forums, where no ideas from players are going to get answered.

Keep up the good work.

This guy goes out of his to be polite and constructive and still gets attacked. Good job guys bravo.

To the OP the I wish you would of posted sooner I you said it best. But I think it is to late FFG just released another xwing epic ship seeing as Armada was kind of replacing epic I think FFG see the writing on the wall. That or you guys are getting a third faction soon.

Are you saying Armada is dead?

Do you mean "Good job emmjay bravo" ? Because I am seeing about 30+ incredibly positive reactions to an excellent post, and 2 "guys" without a clue.

That was a couple of posts in. Yes a lot of praise after that. Now that post saying I agree with the op it might change. Or I bet they attack me some more. Either way I bet he read my topic and said I have beefs but man I am going way out of my way to talk about them so I don't get trolled like him. Sad really.

Excellent post Egg. I think that you said it very well and echo a lot of the desires (definitely not "needs") of the community.

I definitely think that FFG pays attention to the forum. They probably will not answer your open letter directly, but I'm certain it will be looked at.

I think it would be awesome if FFG had a community liaison. It would probably be a tough job (heck XWING would be a full time job.)

Good Post, a perfect reflection of the state of the community despite the occasional Troll that gets out. I do believe the community is largely positive, far more then most and in general the discussions here are very good, mostly polite albeit heated sometimes. In an as a whole though the overwhelming majority are fans of FFG and Star Wars Armada, but we are consumer and I don't think its above our station to place a few demands on the people that collect our credit card numbers.

FAQ should be updated promptly, forums should be monitored both for critical questions as well as for aforementioned Trolls.

The lack of clarity with issues like RLB for example are hurting tournaments, campaign games, they are sparking arguments and needless discussion when something as simple as an FFG employee poping into the forum and saying "hey, we will update the FAQ shortly, here is the ruling you can expect". Literally takes 1 minute to resolve a community wide issue, I don't see why this is so difficult for FFG to simply resolve.

We all work for living, FFG, this game is you working for a living so... get on it.

*sees at bottom of page* oh no you dont <bump>

<bump again>

Had to go to page 3 of the forums to catch up and read this. Unacceptable.

Excellently written Egg!
