Is there a transcript at all? Probably personal opinion but I much prefer to read a report than listen to podcasts. Not to say your podcast is bad (I don't think I've ever listened) but I just don't really like podcasts at all.
I totally get that. At the moment there isn't a written version.
I have a lot in my plate right now but if I find time maybe I'll try do a written version of the day's events.
Excellent - thank you for sharing your Regionals experiences.
It was a fun regionals for sure! Sadly I didn't get to play against you.
I was your final opponent at the regionals with the jet trooper list. I ended up getting knocked out in the next round to the guy that finished first place. I had no idea what lists to expect to be playing against in this tournament except a lot of mercs with the smuggler/hunter trait. I guessed that there might be a lot of Rancors, Jabbas, and Jedi Lukes. It turns out no one played the new luke or rangers that day at all, jet troopers were extremely popular and Jabba was everywhere. It’s a shame, I was planning to run a Luke list but figured that he was going to be over represented during the day and decided to run jet troopers as a lot of local talk wasn’t too excited about them.
After a lot of last minute changes to my list and some fine tuning all the way up last second I ended up running:
[40 points]
2x Dewbacks
2x Elite Jet Troopers
-Vaders Finest
-Targeting Computer
E. Stormtrooper
Imp. Officer
Zillo Technique
Rule by Fear
Grenadier
Overrun
Call of the Vanguard
2x Reinforcements
Negation
Ferocity
Survival instincts
Fuel Upgrade
Celebration
Element of Surprise
Planning
Take Initiative
Urgency
Of No Importance
The idea was to always focus up 1 set of Jet Troopers, while my other figures went out and engaged the enemy. I was going to use the dewbacks as a mixture of flanker or meat shield for the rest of my troops. If I ran into a rancor with double black dice, my hope was that I could use my focused jets for a 4 dice attack and my dewbacks to drive it off before it caused too much damage.
After the tournament my thoughts were that I was glad that I took celebration at the last minute. It paid off 4 out of 5 games that I played. The one game it didn’t, I used it up on zillo to save a figure. Unique figures were in every game that I played. Elite Jet troopers are amazing. Both Vaders Finest and Targeting Computer are great on them, and I’m glad that I took one of each. I was rightfully worried about this list not having enough punch to deal with a rancor some of the time. The last game I played I took something close to 9 shots at it, most with 3 or 4 dice, and I still only managed to get 7 damage on him. That rancor had hot defense dice.
What did you use Celebration on if you can remember? Can you play it later in the game? (I kill leia turn 2 and then draw Celebration later in the game, can I play it a couple turns later?)
Did the Rancor Train most of the time? I've had Rancors die to the silliest of things just because of him rolling double 1's on defense and the enemy had pierce.

In the game he played against me, he used Celebration when 3PO got gunned down by one of the turrest on the To Your Stations! scenario.

"after a unique hostile figure is defeated" refers to immediately when that figure is killed.
So even though 4 turns later, is technically "after" that figure was defeated, that's not how the card works. Has to be right when they die.
That's how I've always used it, but the wording on their cards almost needs a guide to it. It's so vague and arbitrary. Granted, Xwing is worse, I think they have a 16-18page FAQ and have reinvented the timing algorithm a couple of times. But there is room to add Immediately on that card.
I want one of those Deathstar countdown point counters.
Edited by buckero0I believe "after" and "immediately" are implied to be interchangeable in this regard.
So, celebration must be played immediately after the unique figures dies as stated above. I ended up using Celebration on C3PO, Shyla, Greedo, and Mak during the day. Oddly i rarely drew my 'Of No Importance', which has definitely won me and cost me some games in the past.
I played against 2 Rancors during the day. The first I was able to take down after it switched to Brutality mode, but at that point in the game I was already far ahead in points and he did that in a desperate attempt to level the playing field. He wasnt able to get the Rancor too close to me that game, due to positioning, and not wanting to be near 2, 4 dice jet trooper attacks. The second Rancor stayed trained the entire game, and mostly rolled 5s on defense with the occasional 6. It was able to take better advantage of command cards and position that let it get away from my jet troopers, while cleaning up my other figures. I felt slightly vindicated watching it get melted rolling several 2 blocks in the follow up game after my elimination.

I should mod some of my old WOTC Jawa minis into some sort of party scene. Little hats and confetii etc.
Then when I play Celebrtation, i'll bring out the little Jawa party scene and put it on the side of the board. ![]()
