Doubts with Runebound Midnight: Why it is not in stock?

By arkiva, in Runebound

Hello from Spain!, so, i apologize, first of all, for my basic english.

My question is... well, I have seen in the Runebound board expansions site here, three of them, but nothing about Midnight. It is not in catalogue? It is not Midnight one of the board expansions of Runebound Second Edition?

Thankyou very much.

Well, i have just saw in the net that seems it is out of print. Could any body say me why? Will it be in stock in a future?

Thanks again!

Is anybody over there?

Enfin, my doubt is... The Midnight expansion is out of print because:

A) it was too good, and there is not more copies

B) it was too bad and nobody liked it

Say me guys, please, because i have found a copy here in my city, and i want you to say me before of to pay it.

The reason why Midnight is out of print and won't be reprinted is that it was a stand-alone expansion, which features a completely different background and game experience in comparison to all other Runebound stuff. Another point is the setting, which is not the usual Terrinoth but the world of Midnight, with its own rules and map.

The main difference is the following: one player is playing the Night King and the Heroes oppose him all the time. He has to hunt them down and protect his fortresses from their attempt to banish his rule from the land. Many core rules are broken or altered by this expansion, in order to give the feeling of the Midnight world, which is pretty harsh against wanna-be-Heroes (no Markets, no Money, just barter and smuggling are possible).

While adding many interesting traits to the game, many affectionate Runebounders said that Midnight is "too different" from the usual Runebound feeling. I own a copy of it but never tried it, perhaps because I fear to play as the Night King.

FFG decided not to reprint Midnight when they realised what the fans were thinking about this expansion, which is not defective by any measure, but has been often considered "confusing" for the average player. I've heard many experienced ones say that they had their best games with Midnight instead.

You might consider buying it to give it a try or just to complete your collection, because it add not less than 8 new Heroes (very nice figures).

It's up to you...

Thanks a lot The-Warlock. I think i´m going to buy it. It is the last one in the shop. Besides, it could be adapted to be part of Terrinoth.

If anyone has a copy of Runebound: Midnight and doesn't want it, I will gladly purchase it! Send me a message if you are interested, I eagerly await a reply =)

Thanks,

-Steve

I second that. If anyone has a copy of Runebound: Midnight they don't want, send me a message.

bump, still wanting midnight =)

Think The Warlock hit the nail on the head: the mechanics of Midnight were a little bit too different to standard Runebound for people to get into (and seem very convoluted). I am also yet to play it, but I keep it for the sake of completeness and the fact that you can use the character and some (not all as some of them have a monetary value of 0) of the purchase cards in the other game variants.

Yeah I just picked it up, and have yet to play it. Will pass along my thoughts as I intend to play it very soon.
