Destroyed or not??

By 4xholic, in X-Wing Rules Questions

If I have a ship with 2 hull value and 2 shield, then get hit with adv. homing missiles -> which states to deal 1 face up damage card. The damage card states that it counts as 2 hull damage. Therefore I would have 0 hull but 2 shields. So, am I destroyed?

Thanks.

If a ship has a number of damage cards assigned equal to or greater to its hull value, that ship is destroyed.

In the example you provided, a ship with 2 hull with a Direct Hit! card assigned to it is destroyed.

Thats what we were thinking, thought we'd double check.

When a weapon or ability says to deal a damage card (faceup or facedown), it bypasses any shields. Which makes them particularly dangerous.

KABOOM!!!

All without needing any of the crit/kaboom symbols on any dice :)

This is why the A-Wing and E-Wing plus a few other ships need to extremely cautious when dealing with an opponent who can deal damage CARDS. While uncommon ships can die with full shields when cards get to come in ignoring those tokens.
