What happened to Squadron Benchmark

For those of you itching to get going, you can try this out. I think I have the title issue resolved. What this means is that if a title adds something, it is actually added to the build.

Please remember that I will be travelling tonight as we are playing in our local regionals tomorrow so I won't be able to make any changes till after that. I am starting to be able to follow the code a bit.

There is a lot, I mean a lot of work to still go but at least this fixes one of the glaring issues with it and makes it somewhat more playable.

I'll have to setup some sort of blog/forum where things can be reported.

I've slightly changed the name so folks don't get confused with the original app in case he decides to come back to it some day.

I also added commonwealth defenders and a variant of triple defenders to the Top 10 builds. Lots more to go but this is at least a start.

I'm new to javascript but have been a hobby programmer for about 35 years.

My son is working on a Comp Sci degree so between the 2 of us we should be able to limp along enough to keep it working and add new features.

Nice to see it with a few less bugs!

One thing I had forgotten about. When making squad lists, the modification upgrade icon is a missile icon. Minor thing but maybe he has that image stored somewhere.

Need some folks to test out Latts Crew which I think I have fixed - It is pushed to the site so try it out.

Thanks. I hope the same for Denis. I tried as many different ways as I could find to get in touch with him but just couldn't. Is there anyone on this forum from the French X-Wing community that knows him in real life?

Heavy Scyk title seems to work, ran 3 mindlinked TPVs and a mindlink Fenn Rau and all of the abilities worked.

Thanks Ynot. I don't get to play as much as I'd like lately, so this let's me fiddle around with newer stuff I haven't used yet. I, too, was bummed that it had gone so long without updating. I would be interested in joining your playtest crowd.

Just played a lovely game (using the two squads in my list), thank you again for picking this up. Notes:

1. I had a couple of issues building squads. I generally just type them in directly but the page truncated entries multiple times - Engine Upgrade and Autothrusters kept vanishing but I ended up just copy/pasting and that seemed to fix it.

2. Might be something to do with my mouse but the 'mat' felt twitchy - I would go to pick up a rock or click a ship and the mat seemed to stick to my pointed before re-clicking to unstick.

3. 4-LOM might need a tweak - I got the Ion token but Rey was still able to spend a focus token.

Will test more tomorrow, thank again!

There might be a glitch with TLT.

I was playing a game against them last night and after the first shot against me it froze. I couldn't see my roll or skip ahead a round or anything.

I even reran it to see if it was a glitch.

Another note: you seem to be able to re-roll the same dice multiple times - with Rey I can re-roll for Lone Wolf and the re-roll for her ability.

Fellow programmer here. I'm a bit curious about the code, but I'm not too familiar with github so where can I find the code? I'll participate in the testing as well, might be even more efficient if I can help you identify the bugs as well.

The replay system hasn't been working for me for quite some time. I don't think it's one of my script blockers, as the rest of it seems to be working (with some bugs.) It also has a hard time recognizing when the game has ended.

It doesn't appear that Jess Pava, Snap Wexley, or Nien Nunb can be equipped with any upgrades. Also, their pilot tile in the squad building section has no background art, it's just pure black.

I so wish I had any skills to add to this project. I have played a dozen or more games since yesterday, loving how easy this is.

Primed Thrusters has been fixed. Previously if you equiped Primed Thrusters it would hang the point where you get to do an action.

For those that are wondering, when you see the version go to 0.10.x, that will mean that wave 10 ships have been added. I'm trying to get as much of the bugs fixed as I can before adding the Wave 10 stuff.

It doesn't appear that Jess Pava, Snap Wexley, or Nien Nunb can be equipped with any upgrades. Also, their pilot tile in the squad building section has no background art, it's just pure black.

I've had similar issues with some of the Heroes of the Resistance stuff, but I found a trick! If you go to Yet Another X Wing Squad Builder, you can create your squad there or at least the ships that aren't letting you connect upgrades to, and then export it using the button at the bottom. Then, just cut and paste into the squadron box on the benchmark. Kind of an annoying roundabout way, I know, but it works. Only issue I've seen with this method is that in Yet Another, cards with duplicate names like Millennium Falcon have a TFA suffix and the Benchmark wants an HoR suffix for the newer certain.

Jess, Snap and Nien should now be able to be setup without having to import from external. They were missing the artwork which is now there.

Great to see this back up and running.

A couple of things I've noticed, if you select a barrel roll and you can't make your chosen direction, you're forced to roll the other way. And if you missclick (hit TL rather than BR for example), there is no way to unselect that action. An option to change your mind on your action would solve both those problems. Plus the back button doesn't seem to work correctly. I tried to select going back one turn, but it went back 3 and then I was unable to do anything.

Playable offline?

After setup, a game (the original web page) didn't reload stuff until game over, but replaying or changing setup required internet connection.

I'm asking because this is actually a nice game on its own for travelling with a laptop, where you have no or just intermittent connection. I guess there's a way to download all in advance and play locally, but it isn't obvious how to (at least, for me).

Played a few myself, and had a couple other guys playtesting this weekend

  • Esege; partner uses his focus and if Esege has a second then takes the second as well, as its on focus token

  • Maarek: I can't be sure here, but I think when shooting at Maarek his ability triggers for the attacker. Or I just got really lucky and One-shotted him with a miranda homing missile.

  • Tractor beam token requires you to move target (no option to leave alone)

  • No Hotshot Copilot

  • Shield Upgrade does not give a shield

Minor: if you can’t tell if a BR or boost works, and you select, you are forced to do a BR or boost in another direction, even if you would not have done that in a real game (like, try a BR, can’t, do something else instead)

Two minor bugs:

Palpatine doesn't stop working when he is dead (I don't know if there's some deeper meaning behind it or not)

Unique crew carry over from the two lists. So you can't play two lists with Palpatine, Sabine crew, etc against each other.
