During playtests, I found Machete and Shrivelling both put in good work with liberal use of skill cards, especially if get your torch out alongside (though there'll be hand slot issues for at least a couple of turns, something that needs to be played around.) I very rarely evaded unless I was using Blinding Light with Willpower. I think the opening hand should be focused only on the first act, with no consideration for mid-game or even late-early-game.
