Sadly these have been stuck at WIP status since June of 2016...been consumed by X-Wing Repaints (and frankly Armada squadrons are just dauntingly time consuming and I have SO FRACKING MANY to paint...)

I was scrolling down seeing your wonderful paintjobs for Armada fighters and when the bigger A-Wing appeared my brain broke for a moment.
Use q-tips or lolipop sticks to save yourself the work of taping! If you're in germany I can look up the brand I found that has the right diameter.

I free hand all of these using a 18/0 size brush. It's nerve racking and honestly takes longer to do one armada squadron ship than one x-wing miniatures ship...

Why so small? Personally I find better results with a 1 than a 2/0. the fine tips just don't hold enough paint to be terribly useful without loading them up and making them useless.

Tried it for the finer details and loved it, don't really have a problem holding enough paint. As long as the paint is properly thinned the 18/0 brush has been working spectacularly for me, in painting - as in many things - to each their own!
And again, location and temperature and humidity makes a huge difference there....
I use to roll with 10/0s back home in Australia, with all the wet blending in the world... But with the lack of humidity here in Calgary, I need paint volume to not dry on the bristles, which has led me to basically scale to no smaller than a 1....
It makes me sad, but them's the breaks.

I may have a suggestion to your lack of humidity issue Dras. At my last house, here in the Cleveland Ohio area, humidity would drop like a rock in mid November, so I picked up a flip vent for our clothes dryer.
It had a second filter to reduce lint, and basically allowed me to pump the hot moist air back into the house. Helped the heating bill too.

I like the way you think. Gotta watch those older houses though some seem to have a natural breathing to them. My house is about 60 years old and I found it seems to have less humidity problems in the winter than newer places I've lived. That could be attributed to other things though.
Unfortunately, I no longer have a house of my own.
Well, here is to hoping things turn around for you Dras. Just remember what really matters, and all the good things you do have.
