Streaming the Correlian Campaign this weekend.

By WWPDSteven, in Star Wars: Armada

Guys, Craig AKA Caldias has hunkered down at the Maclowchodome to wait out Snowpocalypse 2017, and he brought his Armada stuff. We plan to play through the Correlian Campaign all the way. We will be doing the 3 player mode with just the two of us. Think we can finish in 12ish games? We'll see!

We'll be starting sometime around 7:30 EST give or take.

You guys are Crazy and I love it.

Shame I'll be at the Hothgary Regional tomorrow and missing part of your Zaniness.

We're playing fairly laid back lists, it should be a good time.

Well, I'm already there waiting, as I am want to be :D

Run dual Interdictor lists so he can't run away with his MC30s.

That'll show him.

Awesome...wish I wasn't so busy! On the bright side, I will be able to watch the replays.

Definetely gonna try to jump into the stream chat for a few hours.

Thanks for doing this! My friend and I were just talking about doing something similar - renting a big house on the coast for a long weekend and playing through the entire campaign with a group of friends. Good luck with the campaign, and nice selection of Admirals by the way.

lol watching the stream. IFF should make their cast into custom upgrade cards. Don't forget Isabelle and her nerf gun. That upgrade card should be OP.

Alright guys, it's 2AM EST right now- we're calling it a night after the first round.

So far it's 1-0 to the Rebels, but the Empire had a bucketload of extra fleet points to spend. We start round 2 tomorrow morning! Make sure to tune in!

Define morning. And could you please use GMT too? :) Us in Europe are slightly confused with all the American timezones...

Somewhere around 3pm GMT is my bet

Steven is in EST which is GMT-5 hours for reference.

I have never been so angry at coffee and waffles before.

Guys. We're deep in right now. Mid-way through Round 3, on game 8.

Currently we're 3-3 on VPs, and the Imps just destroyed a Rebel base! We'll be going until late tonight, come join us!

It's been awesome to have this to pop I on all day. I'm hyped to see how the all out Assault goes tomorrow.

Excellent!! Any lessons learned on this sort of format would be much appreciated--I'm running a full six-player one-weekend campaign playthrough at the end of the month! SUPER excited for it!

After running 3 different lists for nine games in a row, I don't think either one of us have it in us to do the all-out assault, sadly, although I am really excited to try it. This format would probably be best running 3 tables simultaneously, and having 3 players per side. Ard, I think a weekend feels right. Steve and I were speculating this would probably go to 5 rounds or so if we had enough players and space to do all rounds simultaneously.

As for the campaign itself, I love the hard cap there are on things. So if something turns in favor of one side, they still can only ever have 500 points, and the income as well as the hard reset you can do to help mitigate the snowball effect. Not to say snowballing can't happen, but I think FFG has done everything they possibly can to make it as painless as possible. That last round I lost two rebel bases and had two fleets completely decimated, but didn't feel out of it at all, having initiative on two assaults on the next round.

I think running three lists simultaneously and upgrading all of it in a matter of minutes was a little rough! I loved it, but I definitely forgot some things and was playing sloppy a bit towards the end there. My brain felt a bit like porridge. Still was such a blast, and I see myself playing though this many times.

Awww, I was looking forward to seeing that insanity.

WWPDSteven and Caldias,

Watching you guys burn through 20 hours of Armada was a blast. I've been sick in bed all weekend so it was a great way to pass the time. A few questions if your brains aren't total mush by this point:

1. What was your most effective fleet on turn 1? Was that same fleet your best fleet by the end, or had another fleet benefited from new ships, squadrons and upgrades to make it more powerful?

2. Which fleet was the most fun to fly? Halfway through your campaign marathon, was there 1 fleet in particular you looked forward to playing that helped give you a second wind?

3. Who was your favorite Admiral, either because they worked well or were fun to command?

4. Which new objective was the most fun to play?

Thanks for joining us Yipe! Brain was mush, but I am as excited for Armada as I've been :)

1) I think my best fleet turn one was actually Konstantine. I just put expanded hangars on 2 vics along with 2 shuttles and man, my squadrons wrecked while my Vics and interdictor just didn't die! By the end I think Vader's arquitens was my best fleet. It had an awesome anti-squadron complement and was able to deal enough damage to put the fear of the Emperor into most enemy ships... as long as it wasn't matched against Craig's excellent Mon Mothma MC30 fleet!

2) I enjoyed both of the fleets with the heavy fighter complement, mostly because I always always always feel like I can use more squadron practice.

3) Jerjerrod. Gosh, he is AWESOME.

4) All of them! The base defense ones we did felt so thematic, and both of the special assaults were also great fun.

Putting the vids on youtube shortly for those who couldn't follow along

Hey Yipe, I'm glad you had a good time. My brain is mush still, but happy to give you some answers:

1. I think Mon Mothma's fleet was the most effective in round one, and turned out to be the most effective. This is probably I have the most experience with MC30s and Mon Mothma than any other ship or general, so it was familiar territory for me. I think the fleet that improved the most overall in terms of effectiveness was Dodonna's fleet. That one went from underwhelming in round one to pretty great in round two. He kind of got hemmed in by that one arq in round 3, which was that ship's death knell.

2. Mon Mothma, again, is my most familiar, but I actually looked forward to flying Sato's fleet the most, probably because I tried to make it the most thematic by having a Pelta, having Hera, etc. Very Rebelsy. Even games that turned poorly for me were a ton of fun, and kind of force some bold moves out of me. Had that campaign continued, I would've been down two bases and with initiative, so for sure I would've been scouting out new places to throw down some bases.

3. I'll try not to say Mon Mothma all the time here, haha, but I definitely get the most fun out of flying fleets with her and MC30s. I really like trying to thread needles and arc-dodge with those ships. However, I really want to learn the squadron game better. I was a hard-charging no-squadron fleet pusher for so long, but now that there are so many options, I am eager to throw myself into the squadron game.

4. I don't think we played it, but Capture the VIP is my favorite objective of the new ones. The point swing isn't huge, but it feels nice, and even if somehow first player is able to nab the token, you still have a chance to blow that ship up and get the token back. Really fun mission. Of the ones we did play, I'd have to say that I really dug that show of force one, which is basically a modified station assault. Really awesome. One thing I love about all the new objectives is how thematic they are,

Really looking forward to throwing myself into another campaign. I can see myself playing it quite a few times with different fleets.

Hilariously, I didn't love my Konstantine fleet, but looking back- I don't think it lost a game. VSDs + Flight controllers + Exp Hangars + 2 shuttles was pretty awesome.

The videos are almost all on Youtube now!

The flight controllers did a ton of work, for sure!
