How come I never see this combination? It seems like the most obvious thing in the world, is there something bad about it that I'm missing?

Or maybe people use it a lot and I'm dumb and haven't noticed.

I think it is good but up until now two crew Rebel ships needed other crew (YT and VCX). I've been using U wings with this combo to some effect.

No it´s good. Jyn Erso with Jan Ors is also a good combination when you see lot of swarms, don't have the spare point or want to buff another ship

BlodVargarna is right, using 2 crew slots for a Focus and an Evade is somewhat limiting. Only the Ghost and Falcon could make use of this combo prior to the U-wing and most had better ways to spend those crew slots. Also 5 points for 2 fixed actions is fairly steep.

Its good on VCX Kanan for sure. Jyn Erso might be better than rec spec because you can get 3 foci and its 1 point cheaper.

Kanan/Ghost would rather like Rey and some other crew, since he has access to Evade anyway (I run him with Dash for some PTL-can't-be-obstructed lolz and general rocklanding insurance).

Falcon has better options, so yeah, that's why you're not seeing the combo too much.

Can you explain what makes those two together good? I believe you that it's good, I'm just having trouble seeing how they work best together and I've been wanting to try Rey out as crew for fun.

rey's just a better version of rec spec, assuming you've managed to load her up a little

she assigns you a focus, if available, whether you take another action, bump/obstacle/stress etc. unlike recspec

a U with rey and jan and FCS can derp around happily with TL + focus + evade

specifically the U, though. VCX already evades and does not need oars to do so

EDIT: should mention Jyn Oars (note, not typo) on someone like Heffe is kinda hilarious when you have a regen ship that your opponent wants dead

just desperately flinging an evade onto your highest value ship can really piss off your opponent, esp when said ship is c3po miranda

problem is it isn't self sufficient like rey + jan, i.e Jyn in the late game is basically just a focus action that costs points unless you're giving it to another friendly ship

So BLUF (Bottom Line Up Front) 2 Rebel only crew cards for 5 points. So it has to be Rebels and only two Rebel ships (3 once the U-wing comes out, 4 if you count that and Hero Falcon separate from Wave 2 Falcon) have the double crew slot and no Rebel ships (outside of epic) have the triple crew slot. So you will use up both crew slots and well over half your points for a more defensive combo. Point fortresses are not as big as a meta as they were in the past. The game has moved closer to tabling (as it should be in a non-objective deathmatch format). Also the falcon can already take evade with the old title so not as good, you would be better off with just PTL and maybe a way to shed stress if needed.

Yes but it costs an action and the effect isn't worth 5 points on a 2-crew ship.
