Ok it's Friday - Time for some kind of announcement already!

By Crabbok, in Star Wars: Armada

I think we have waited patiently enough. We've lost a Princess, we've lost many many rebels during the battle at Scariff, and We've gone six days so far into 2017 without any New Product announcements.

Enough is enough.

Lets see a 4 ship wave. I'm calling it right now:

Hammerhead and MC-75 for Rebels

Quasar and Prototype ISD1 for Imperials

And if that's not enough we can also get the Dornean Gunship (Brahatok) and the Venator, to arrive at the same time as the Executor Super Star Destroyer for Armada's new Epic play using the same 9 x 3 huge board from the Campaign finale.

Show me something. Today is not over yet. Show me your sculpts. Show me a spoiler!

Oh man Crabby, can you imagine if the had the stationary planetary shield generator??? That would be so cool to base a battle around.

Those would be great announcements.

We've had some Rogue One X-wing stuff, let's see some Rogue One Armada stuff.

I think we are still a couple weeks from news. I predict february marching orders.

Blame Ben!

Yeah, still a bit too early for new releases my friend.

That shouldn't be the only content we should expect to see from them though.

I got my announcement today, already. My FLGS called to tell me the order of Arqs came in (to replace my previous order they'd sold to someone else), on top of the rest of wave 5, and wave 10 of X-wing. It all arrived at once, and much earlier than expected.

Unfortunately, someone hit the door of my car in town the other week, and my budget for the whole lot has to be rerouted to a garage for a rather costly repair.

But... yay ships in stock?

If my FLGS sold my preorder to someone else, they would no longer by my FLGS.

I'm already losing money purchasing it from them when I could get it cheaper and almost more conveniently from an online retailer.

I expect good service, in addition to the other benefits of having a game store somewhat nearby, to make up for that.

To be fair to them, they apologised. It was an honest mistake in the tumult of the Christmas retail period. I wasn't happy at the time, but I haven't had time to play a single game in the mean time anyway, so I'm not really out anything.

The store's prices are a touch above what I could get online, but they're not so bad that I feel like they owe me for giving them my custom. In exchange for paying a couple of Euro extra, I get a place to play, an interested group, and support some good people. The game hasn't a huge following here, but the store is trying to foster one. Credit where it's due.

I guess that's okay then. There was a run on my FLGS when the wave was released and they ran out of product.

They could have sold the pre-ordered product, but they didn't. I was able to play release night and many times since.

Had they sold it to someone else, and then I showed up to claim my pre-order and been turned away because they sold it to someone else I'm not sure if I would patronize the business anymore.

In your situation though, it doesn't sound like it was a big deal, so I get where you're coming from.

I would be happy with an FAQ, got a regional next week and I still don't know what that rapid launch widget does.

You've got a whole week to wait.

Ours is Tomorrow.

Honestly, I'm not expecting an announcement until March. That is when they made the first announcement last year at some gaming trade show.

I would be pleasantly surprised if we got one before then, and I hope we see a FAQ soon. Not going to hold my breath though.

Something that I think would be interesting to see is neutral based ships. Ships that can be used by either Rebels or Imperials but not a faction by themselves.
Strike cruisers, bulk cruisers, and dreadnoughts were used on both sides. Give us both something exciting to shoot at each other.

Imperials need more ISDs.

Or you could bring the 1stOrder ISD and Han's Frigate from Ep.7 TFA. ;)

Han's ship was an unarmed bulk freighter. Thanks, but no thanks.

What about having 15 hull and causes double face down cards on ram instead of one? ;)

Don't the FAQs come out on like the 17th or something?

Don't the FAQs come out on like the 17th or something?

It's minimum 1 month for FAQs. The release date was announced for "later next week" on December 16th, the same date as the movie launch. The official launch day for all new FFG products is Thursday, so we can estimate it as December 22nd.

This means the official FAQ should be coming out no earlier than January 19th, four weeks after the launch, and possibly no earlier than Monday January 23rd.

Not sure there is really enough material in the universe to keep up with 4-ship waves as long as X-Wing has.

IMHO, next wave (based on when we first "saw" the ships on TV) will be the Hammerhead and the Imperial Light Carrier (Quasar Fire thing).

Wave after that might be more ships - MC75, Dornean Gunship, and Venator (and Acclamator?) would be my guess.

REAL question, of course, is...what the heck is SWM20?!

But we just got wave 3/4/5 within months .. there is so many options already that my mind boggles.. I really do not hope that the release rate of this game gets anywhere near where X-wing has been the last 6 months.. I want to get good at using my stuff before new stuff comes out - without having to play two games a week. ..

It's a dual faction Super Star Destroyer. Executor Title for Imperials, Annihilator Title for Rebels. (Annihilator was another SSD, same class as executor, that was captured by Pirates after the Battle of Endor. - not truly Rebel, but it is canon and it's not Imperial anymore)

I'll still pass, thanks :)
