I just got my Fang for Christmas and have only really tried Fenn, and I know Old Teroch will be fun, but what about Kad Solus? I think he'd be a good Deadeye pilot, but I want to know y'all's experience with him.
Edited by sf1raptorIs Kad Solus any good?
He's a really good mid-PS pilot, his ability is good, especially paired with Stay on Target. He's up against stiff competition in Old Teroch and Fenn Rau, though, who are also quite close points-wise so it's often difficult to not just go for the higher PS aces.
He's also a decent option for an Attanni Mindlink squad, so long as you remember the golden Mindlink Movement rules.
Cool pilot ability in a ship that needs to move last or close to it to be effective at a high level of play.
I love him though, and a deadeye APT after a T-roll or k-turn is fun (although gimmicky). Give him a try and see what you think.
He's good, it's just that Fenn and Teroch are better. Stay On Target is a good call on him -- otherwise it can be really tricky to get a lot of utility out of his ability. I could also see Mindlink working pretty decently.
Yeah, he's an above average pilot in any "for funsies" lists.
He's actually my preferred Protectorate pilot, especially in a Mindlink list. Still trying to nail down his best wingmates for said ML list, though.
I think he got his place in list of trio of mindlinked Teroch, Fenn and Solus list - add to this Advanced Proton Torpedoes on Fenn and you are set to go.

Possibly something that moves before him, with a way of self stressing. That way, should the planned Kad red maneuver be the wrong one, you can give him a stress token to turn it into a white 2 straight.

I like the idea, and toyed with the trio without Mindlink. I find that my Jedi Green Dice skills are not up such a squishy combination, sadly. With a lot more practice, perhaps, getting better at just plain not getting shot at. Heh.

I generally use him as a flanker. All that speed and maneuverability, and then it comes time to turn in and hurt someone. Hell, that's basically how I try to use any of the Protectorates, any interceptor. I've not yet used the new stress rules tactically. It's definitely worth consideration.
I have had fun with Kad, Deadeye and advanced protons, Troll or K behind then and watch in horror as you fire your aps and hit for 5 hits while stressed.
