Best Source for Information on the Empire

By jscott991, in Star Wars: Age of Rebellion RPG

This is probably a wild goose chase because I bet I know the answer, but I wondered if any of the new books for the FFG RPG functioned as kind of a new Imperial Sourcebook.

The corebook has an excellent chapter on the organization of the Rebel Alliance and I wondered if there was anything similar out there for the Empire. There are bits and pieces of information in the core book, but nothing quite as focused as the old West End book or similar to what is in the FFG Age of Rebellion book.

Thanks!

There's this, one of four very good 'In Game' splatbooks:

TBH I don't really think we need to worry about a FFG splat as far as info goes, all we really need are FFG stats and there seems to be enough generic stats for S/troopers, ISB Agents and related vehicles.

I'm particularly looking forward to No Disintegrations to see what info it contains compared to this:

Wow, how did I miss this book.

Thanks!

I own the Imperial Handbook and most of the vehicles and trooper types described in it have stats in the FFG books. It does offer a look into troop organization, which I rather like.

And... it's the only one I haven't bought yet *grovelling on knees for forgiveness* I just flipped through the GMs copy

Wow, how did I miss this book.

Thanks!

The only reason I knew about them was I walked into WH Smith in 2015. There was a Star Wars The Force Awakens display stand with them all on with TONS of other OT books - art, dot to dot, colouring stress relief books for adults, Haynes tech manuals, lego books, novels etc etc

I just recently got the four books. Found the Bounty Hunter Code new at Half Price Books for $10. Got the other three at the FLGS's annual "buy 2/get 1 free" sale throughout the store during December.

I got the book through Amazon.

It's smaller than I thought it would be (physical size), but it is very interesting.

I could have done without the Rebel asides (most of which are silly and flippant, and a few by Mon Mothma are just outright fabrications, which I guess could be intentional).

I was also very enthusiastic when I saw the page saying Army uniforms follow (the Imperial Army hardly ever gets any treatment), only to be very disappointed when, in fact, no pictures of army troopers or officers appear.

There's also the WEG Imperial sourcebook though I don't know how hard it would be to find now and the Essential Guide to Warfare has a decent amount of data on the Epire, and a really good section on the Academy system.

Keep in mind that all the WEG books should be available for free download (thanks to the publisher), via the d6holocron website — See http://d6holocron.com/downloads/

I have the Imperial Sourcebook.

It's pretty dated and is also a little too Anglo-American military-focused for my tastes. I don't really need to know with such exacting detail what exactly is in an imperial battlegroup (especially since I'm not entirely convinced that the Imperial Army actually exists other than in the form of stormtroopers given what we've seen in Clone Wars, Rebels, and the films).

It was an amazing read when I got one in 8th grade, but it's just a bit dated (as is a lot of the D20 Star Wars material, which is far too old EU-reliant).
