Getting Back on The Horse: Tournament Help

By JoeyBriefcase, in X-Wing

I've long since gotten over my bad time at the last tournament, and realized I need a major attitude adjustment in preparation for the next one. I have 3 weeks until the next local tournament (at that same bar, but who needs drinks, they've got some great chicken tenders). I've since gotten some expansions, and am now trying new lists that I may want to use.

I got the YT-2400 expansion and been experimenting with different combinations of Trickshot, Lone Wolf, Mangler, and HLC Dash. I always put Rey, Smuggling Compartment, Glitterstim, and Counter Measures since it allows me to free up actions and can potentially get me out of a bad position. I think I want Lone Wolf HLC for pure reliability, but Trickshot Mangler is cheaper and can't get "donut holed".
My wing-mate for him is either Sabine Bomber Miranda, C-3P0 Missile LRS Miranda, or 2 B-Wings. I would only use the B's if it was Trickshot HLC, since they can cover the donut hole.

Another list I've been working on is called "BIIIIIIIIIIIIG OL' CHIRANEAU". He fills all three crew slots with Hotshot Copilot, Rebel Captive, and Gunner. He also has engine upgrade, but I don't know whether to put VI or Predator on him. Predator is for better accuracy and Gunner manipulation, but VI allows me to strip tokens from Poe's, Han's, Soontirs, and Rey's, while also allowing engine upgrade arc dodging at higher PS.
Possible wingmate's include Juke Vader (only with VI Deci), PTL X7 Ryad, Calculation X7 Maarek Stele (for PS), and maybe Soontir Fel.

The third list is typical Triple X7's. I bought two Imperial Veterans so I lack the cardboard to field a Delta and Vessery (what can I do about that?) so my list is Calculation Ion MK 2 Maarek, PTL Ion Mk 2 Ryad, and a Delta for 98 points. Higher PS and Initiative than normal.

The other day I went to my local store for some games and met another player who was just starting out but couldn't yet field a 100 point list. I ended up setting up both of these lists so he could use one and try out a 100 point list. I used Chiraneau and he used Dash. Dash suffered due to engine upgrade Deci can consistently get into the donut hole, but Lonewolf+Rey allowed him to negate some 7-8 damage during the game. I tried Carnor as the wingman and he got chewed up by turrets and never got a shot off. Imperials won, and I ended up giving him some Rebel Aces cards that I had duplicates of, Jake Farrell, Jan Ors, Enhanced Scopes, Chardaan Refit, Prockets and Kyle Katarn. I think I'll end up recommending a list for him involving some combination of a U-Wing, A-wing, and the Falcon (expansions he owns, along with the Core Set). Maybe Expertise Fat Han with Jan Ors, Jyn Erso U-wing

Let me know what you think of the lists, and also something that that new player can cobble together with what he has (I may also give him a copy of Gunner, since I own 3 I think, and I don't think you can use 3 optimally in a list).

3x7 is probably the most reliable. Personally RAC Steele would be the way I would lean.

If I did that I would probably make it Juke and hope for natural crits.

I really like this list and I've never lost a match with it:

RAC: Adaptability, Palp, Gunner, Engine (63)

Ryad: Lone Wolf, x7, Stealth (37)

This Ryad is the new Soontir IMO and might even be better than him overall with her outrageous tankiness. Lone Wolf > PTL on Ryad with a deci and one time I survived 2 adv. proton torps with her in a round, only taking a single shield in damage. When she isn't getting shot, she still has lone wolf, palp, and a focus for mods and RAC can hit most of the other guys with Gunner and a TL+ his ability. PS 9 isn't really a problem on RAC either, because neither Fenn or Dengar can hit this Ryad reliably, so you can just go straight for Manaroo in both builds.

Bomber Miranda really wants Advanced slam, so drop the LRS.
