As far as the light saber handles goes, this video shows the official prop. Looks pretty much the same to me:

In that shot he is holding the handle in one hand. The mini has both hands on the handle, with a bit sticking out below and the above section is about as long as both his hands together. Also, the last "rim" of the emitter is wider on the sculpt than his hands, which is obviously not what is shown in the picture. The whole thing looks too large on the mini, at least in comparison to the rest of his sculpt. It looks more like a candlestick than his hilt.

I guess anything is possible, but compare the picture from the original announcement (conveniently at the very top of this page) with the mod that Ibsh did in this thread: https://community.fantasyflightgames.com/topic/182304-ibshs-minis/page-4

His looks much better IMO.

Pretty sure they didn't do a full body cast of Mark Hamill circa 1982 holding the original prop just for this mini. They used 2D pictures as the source material. The model looks pretty good considering.

The Ibsh mod looks nice and he gave details of how he went about it. Mine is ordered, so when I get it I will decide what to do. From looking at the tools I have in my modelling box, I'm starting to wonder more and more if I could file down the top part of the handle to simultaneously shorten it and lengthen the blade. I might even file the other handle parts a little to make them thinner. Will just have to see what it is like when I am holding it...

I was googling references and I'm pretty sure I found the reference photo that FFG used to base the mini on, including the seemingly extra long lightsaber handle. Not sure if anyone posted this yet or has more background on the source, but it's a great image for painting reference.

It's interesting that, like FrogTrigger above, when I got mine and held it, it didn't look so bad. In mine, the handle is a little too long looking but it doesn't look as thick as it does in some photos. Also, the saber blade is a little short compared to Obi Wan's but isn't terrible. I think the picture Tvboy posted explains a lot. Though based on it, the lightsaber blade is a perhaps a tad short. The upshot of all of this is that I am not sure whether to mod mine or not. My plan had been to file the top ring of the handle to turn it into part of the blade, but now I don't know if I can be bother.
