So, I'm at the point now where I definitely need to get some better carrying options than what I've got now. I want to treat my ships like kings, so I was going to create some custom trays with Battle Foam's creator. But I was hoping to get advice from people on what case to get that can house the foam trays. It needs to be deep enough to hold quite a few trays, including one for the Raider and Gozanti. I am open to suggestions.
Carry Case Considerations
I'm in the same situation.
I'm using a feldherr hard case for the collection, and 2 custom boxes to trasport what I use to play usually.
But I need to buy the foam for the gozanti an the hard case won't probably be enough to store everything.
Maybe the battlefoam will help to store more ships?
Another Felderr caser here. I am very pleased with mine.
Feldherr 4-tray capacity with zip compartment.
Personally I think that Plano is just fine and everything else it a bit of a luxury. If it something you can afford and you like the storage then get what you like.
I started out with Plano and thought it was great; I still do but as my collection grew so did my storage. I have enough for both sides to play a 400 point Epic game plus a decent showing of S&V ships. With the ships, bases, counters, tokens, 3D obstacles and asteroids that was just too much for a convenient Plano solution. My wife convinced me to switch to Battle Foam and I love it. I went with the custom cutouts and everything fits very well, including the 3D obstacles. Nothing gets banged even with the Epic Ships. It is pricey and some would say over kill but it is great. I transport my stuff to different LGS and such, and I want to keep my ships in good condition.
Battle Foam is my personal favorite but most of them will work.
P.S. To the OP's point I do have the Raider and Gozanti. Also the CR-90 and the Transport. One of each Large Ships (exception two IG-88 and two Falcons). a minimum of two of every other ship but Rebels and Imperial quite a bit more that two. Plus, as above, 3D obstacles and such. And it all fits in side a single Battle Foam case. I do like it.
[Edit: Oops left out the case. Sorry ![]()
It is the P.A.C.K. 720. If you have a smaller collection the P.A.C.K. 432 is fine too. The P.A.C.K. system has reasonably hard sides and stack nicely. Also the 720 allows to add and additional bottom if needed. I have not needed to do that. Also, I have everything, as above, though Wave IX and if I didn't have the 3D stuff I'd have tons of more room still left over.]

Do you have any pictures of the product? I may not be the one buying, as my birthday is coming up.

No but I still have all of the custom layouts though you may not want them and I could take a few pictures this weekend if you'd like. The normal price is $200 for the case and all custom trays, but I got it for one of their specials and it was about 30% off. About $140 plus shipping. I see what I do this weekend or tonight when I get home if you'd like? Let me know.

4 years of study on Google images + dissertation to find these.
Battlefoam is awesome yes, but please don't put the Gozanti in a dark foam case....there's a better storage solution for epics:

Plano works fine for me. However, over the years I have heard that you are usually better off using generic squares rather than the dedicated X-Wing shapes, especially for small ships. You will be able to fit more ships and have future options for changing your storage layout. I would be interested to hear from anyone that has gone this route.
Pluck foam life over here. A lot of small ships will sit on their engines facing up and take up a -lot- less space when in storage or transport. I keep my entire collection in a glass case next to the table and use a Battlefoam PACK C4 case to carry ships to games.
If you want to transport epic ships the only BF option is the PACK 720 series. I've got one for my 40k collection (like that all fits in one case...). There's smaller sizes but you can fit a crap ton of ships in a 720 case with those glorious large trays. 2" fits most any ship up to the Ghost and GR-75, feel like you'd need 4" trays for the Raider or CR-90 (though it would likely be a touch overkill for the Gozanti).

I thought he wanted to see my specific layout. But your right, he only asked for pictures of the product. However if I was to answer as you, I'd prefer this link: Let me Google that for you and it doesn't even require a dissertation or sarcasm
as it may be implied.
As my collection has expanded, I've come to the conclusion that there are two primary considerations: storage and transport. I don't want to leave all of my ships out on a shelf, because my CFO will then see how much I have spent.
So I wanted something that would be compact but easy to use for storage.
At first I was determined to carry my entire collection to / from gaming locations, but I quickly realized that was also a bad idea. Plus I never needed to have everything at the same time.. I would put two or three lists together and take those, rather than pulling my entire collection in a wagon train behind me.
I use Feldher cases for everything. At first I would buy the complete "kit" which was a case plus the inserts. Now that I have several cases, I have changed to buying just the foam inserts. For larger ships I buy the custom fitted stuff (Gozanti, Ghost, Decimator, epic ships) but for smaller ships I buy the generic foam with rectangular compartments. Ships are stored in the foam, and the foam goes in a cabinet. When I want to travel, I will load the various foam parts into a travel case. That works well for me.
Now I'm running the Heroes of the Aturi Cluster at a local game store. I can put everything I need to run a full six-player campaign into a single Feldher case and head off to the store. I like that better than having one of the bigger Battlefoam cases as mentioned above, because at home they are easier to put away.
So that's how I manage my collection. It's worked for me so far.
I have a Plano case that I love, but it is getting maxed out, with a Plano 4 pistol case for my epic ships. I have Feldherr foam for my Armada and I have it in a Ridgid tool box. I have found a company that makes foam for these cases and I am thinking of upgrading to the Ridgid rolling case and the foam, but I would have to cut out all the slots myself. It would be time consuming but it would give me great customization, and the Ridgid boxes connect and stack.

I do, though, carry everything with me. Even though I don't play Epic I'm looking for players.
However one reason I didn't go to Felderr, even though they are very good, is because they are designed to store the ships with they bases. I keep the ships without the bases because since I have so many ships that would take up far more room.
But as I said above there are a lot of good solutions.

Feldhefr has foam trays both with / without bases. I tend to use the ones without for flat ships and the others for thicker ships. The generic foam for flat ships is 35mm while the foam for ships on bases is 50mm. X-Wing/Y-WIng/A-Wing and so on fit great in the 35mm trays, but TIE Fighters and some of the bigger ships (Punisher) require the 50mm even without a base.
I prefer the KR multicase cases. They have both specialist and generic cut trays in a range of depths, and the cases themselves have a couple of options ranging from cheap but effective cardboard to the more expensive hard aluminium cases.

I use the Feldherr Mini Plus cases. Each one pretty much holds all the ships and some extras I have for each faction. I also use a basic Plano box for the components and such.
In fact I'm really waiting for the new Ghost tray to hit the US store.
I use 6 of these, 1 for each faction, 1 for cards, 1 for playing tokens, rulers and such, the last one is a travel cases which i switch ships in and out of as all the compartments (yellow boxes) can be removed and exchanged out with any of the cases.
For something like the ghost and epics i am going to pick up the deep one as it works size wise for eveything else.

Also Ikea has .35 clear plastic bins and sandwich bags for 3.00 for 50. I am currently storing all of my large ships in it and move them to the travel case when i want to play with them.

The Ghost tray for Feldherr has been available; I have two of them. It's on Amazon, maybe other places as well. I'm waiting for the Shadowcaster. ![]()

Guess I'm waiting on the restock on January 11.
