So can a named character use his abilities along with secondary weapons cards? i.e. Can "Ten Numb" use his ability on his card which states, "When attacking, 1 of your 'critical damage' results cannot be canceled by defense dice' in conjunction with the Autoblasters which states, "Attack: Attack 1 ship. Your 'damage' results cannot be canceled by defense dice. The defender may cancel 'critical damage' results before 'damage' results"? Thanks for the help and clarification.

Correct. Ten prevents one [crit] from being canceled, and Autoblaster prevents all [hits] from being canceled, so the only thing that could be evaded would be any [crits] beyond the first.

In general, anything that says "When attacking" applies to all weapon types. The only time an ability is restricted to a certain weapon type is when it says so on the card. E.g. "When attacking with a primary weapon".
