Not exactly X-Wing, but this game led to other pre-assembled miniatures games which has now led to a custom 32mm plastic mini that arrived in many pieces.

I've read here and elsewhere about some glues melting plastics, etc, so I want to play it safe and ask before I do something stupid.

To assemble a model, what glue should I be using?

Follow-up question: This figure came with alternate arms and heads. If I wanted to delve into the world of magnets, would the same glue adhere to both model and magnet?

I use the white gorilla glue and have never had problems. It holds great too.

for regular plastics...

...for plastic to magnet, I've been using a regular superglue for mine, but maybe depends upon the weight of the poseable parts - you might have to move to a 2-part epoxy with a longer setting time
