I got into Descent after seeing the RtL app recently. Played first game last night since getting the core set plus lieutenants painted. So much better fully painted! I have everything, integrating into the game as I paint it. I'll circle back once all the figures are painted and base everything. I've been editing in each expansion below as I finish it.

I got back into painting a few months ago, haven't done it in 6+ years. So of course my family was overjoyed that Christmas gifts were easy this year, more stuff for what I'm painting! So now this is my current paint queue for Descent, and I'm buying and painting the Lieutenant figures as I do each expansion.

My wife is regretting this decision as I make her come frequently and look at cards and images online and tell me what colors everything matches up to with my paints. I'm colorblind, so while I can put the paint on reasonably well, things tend to look a bit strange if I choose the colors. Painting fire is especially difficult. I have no idea why I chose fire as the theme for my Warhammer 40K army that was my most recent project years ago.

Good job! I can relate, I had all my monsters and lieutenants painted professionally and most of my heroes. The last batch of heroes gets sent in next week. The painters are working on some Imperial Assault minis for me right now. I hate playing with unpainted minis. I bought the Descent and Imperial Assault base games prepainted

One full expansion with Lieutenant down now! Lair of the Wyrm is complete and integrated. Even found some great models to be the Geomancer Summoning Stones.

Now that I have everything I can start on a good storage solution. Since I'm painting everything I want to use foam trays. If I did my planning correctly, every single Descent figure plus reanimate proxy, 3 summoned stone proxies, and the small animals like the falcon, red panda, wolf, etc proxies, it will all fit across:

One 1" tray

Four 1.5" trays

Three 2" trays

Two 2.5" trays

Two 3" trays

That's two stacks of 13.5" (that total includes 1/4" per tray foam bottom), which makes the ArmyTransport Armored Company or the Division case perfect. The trays are the 7.5x13" type from Sabol Designs or MiniatureMarket. That's the size that fits the ArmyTransport case line.

I've had the Motorpool for many years holding my Warhammer 40K army, the Division and Armored Company are just double height versions of that really, plus more large extra pockets. Great cases.

Dang, of course I come across this while looking for something else entirely. Descent Summoned Stone miniatures from a 3d printer. Just ordered those to replace the shifting stones. Oh well, the shifting stones were cheap and I didn't spend much time painting them anyway.

Fantastic stuff. I really wish I could do the same, but I am absolutely horrible at painting.

I remember trying to paint my old Vampire Counts army back in the day. My white skeleton ended up becoming red. It was pretty bad.

Thanks Emiel. I actually have a pair of those . They were absolutely life changing when I put them on for the first time. The problem is, they only work outside for me. I also tried their indoor version, but those don't work for me.

You reminded me that I have not checked in with them in awhile to see what might be new. The way the tech works, the darker the lens the greater the filtering, which means the more effective it is. The light indoor lens was to light for me, my sunglasses which are the darkest work, but are to dark to be effective inside unless I use a massive sunlamp or something.

They have a newer medium lens that sounds like it likely will work with the amount of light I have for painting. I have two 100w daylight lamps and a high powered LED spot lamp.

The LED lamp is a ring light , it's perfect for miniature painting. Anyone that paints their figures should have one of these.

Bummer they don't work as well inside as outside.

If you try to recreate daylight with LED, you should look at the Kelvin (whiteness) output of the light. Daylight is between 4200 and 10K Kelvin.

These all look fantastic! I want to start painting the Descent figures (haven't painted miniatures for 10+ yrs)... Just wondering how much effort you are putting into these?

I'm inclined to not get too complicated. Maybe just base coats, a wash and a bit of dry brushing... whereas all the tutorial videos I've looked at are doing multiple (3-5) layering passes on the cloaks and other raised areas. For just playing on the table top this seems like a lot of work.

This is why I'm interested in how much effort you've gone to and got those excellent results!

(especially when I've got all the expansions, all the Lieutenants, and so far 4 of the H&M sets to paint)

Exactly my situation. I hadn't painted for 6+ years when I decided to paint descent. "Tabletop" was all I wanted to do with this. These are basecoated, washed, highlighted with the base color, and that's usually it. I'll usually add one more layer of highlighting to metallics.

Generally I take 2-3 hours per hero or Lieutenant. Monsters usually take 3-4 for the whole group.
