What's your favorite ship?

By incinerator950, in X-Wing Off-Topic

Not game related, but we wouldn't be here if we didn't like the space tech. What ship or ships twinkles your eyes and connects you to Star Wars? It can be from the EU or DC.

I've always been partial to TIE Bombers, and found the Steele method of putting them directly into combat in anti-fighter roles was the most fun. Granted I only got to play online on Battlefront 2 and RS, but you don't always get to tell people stories about nearly blowing up the hangar because you popped a proton bomb outside at a boarding ship and one shotting it, taking out 90% of your hull in the process as you cackle away to blow up their Cruiser. Although it didn't get more overpowered than Rebel Strike, getting regenning Missiles and cluster bombs.

I think the Z-95 doesn't get enough credit despite getting passed over for the Arc in the Clone Wars. It's a slim, sexy design, and the Heavy Variant is nice her ways. I had a lot of respect for it when starting out TIE Fighter, they were meaner than the X-Wings despite having less.

Although one ship that rarely gets mentioned that caught my eye in XWA was the Toscan Fighter. I was late to the party for WEG when it was a private owned or pirate fighter, but for Azameen security ships they sure packed nice firepower for an outdated craft. The Y-Wing similarities were also nice. Although I liked playing AI battles and watching the Experimental mk 5 TIE fly circles around the AI. Talk about evasion tanking.

Pretty old school/classic choices for me, the Falcon and X-Wings.

There is just something about both of those ships that sticks with me.

Even when I am playing X-Wing I gravitate towards building list with at least one or the other, and very often both.

Great question though. I am looking forward to reading other's responses.

For me the ships i like most are the X-Wing, the Falcon, Star Destroyers (imperial and the one from the prequels), the Delta 7,the V-Wing, the Fang Fighter and i really like the Clone Gunship although i don't know if they can operate in space.

But number one will always be the X-Wing, i just love that ship i can't really tell you why but they are the reason i play rebels more than the other factions.

In the books and stuff, the Falcon was always a cool ship. And also, large capital ships are awesome. Be they Imperial, Rebel, Republic, CIS, or whatever. I also like the aesthetic of the TIE series, especially the Interceptor, the Defender and the Bomber.

In X-Wing TMG my favourite is the Phantom. Entirely too much fun to fly.

As a kid, I used to fantasize about having an X-Wing and, more commonly, my own Millenium Falcon. I think the appeal of having a "ship" i could basically live in has always been there for me, and when I played SWG I truly fell in love with the Y-8 mining vessel. Not the sexiest ship but man, as a smuggler and then later, bounty hunter, that thing was my pride and joy.

The A-wing has always been my favorite. The only part of the design that mattered was the engines. Even the cockpit seems to have been added as an afterthought.

If it came to me owning one in-universe, though, a freighter. Any freighter would do, I'd just want something big enough to live in and mobile enough to keep me away from where I don't want to be.

Victory Star Destroyers and Lucrehulks are my favorite capitals. When I was younger I always liked the try hard op stuff like Sovereign SDs or TIE Defenders. Now I'm into underdog craft with utility or a lot of functional capability.

Favorite Freighter is probably the Ebon Hawk or Outrider though.

Roughly as tall as a Corvette is long, I'd love this to be the first scum epic.

I had ships at so many different spaceports in SWG. My all-star getting me to each of them was the veteran reward Sorosuub Yacht. I need it in X-Wing.

I really wish I played galaxies. Or specifically, now that there is a few private groups operating their own servers, they get Space mechanics and flight to work. Even with just one ship a faction.

I can't seem to find the list of 150 meter corvettes and light frigates they could use for epic scum. Not sure why.

I can't say i'm a huge fan of the Victory. It looks kind of wimpy compared to an Imperial-class one. Kind of like a Venator that's trying to be an Imperial class. Otoh, the Venator's looks are really good.

X-wings, A-wings, and TIE Interceptors.

Partly from the movies, partly from the X-wing simulator games.

Back before the Retcon, Victories both were missile hoses and were one of the largest atmospheric capable craft that was rather well armed since ISDs couldn't. Venators were mainly carriers more than heavy cruisers with the Anaxes War College, although the Secutor class Star Destroyer fits that description being larger than both.

I missed some of those ships and games, being too young to have played them. The Secutor looks pretty cool, and i've seen many Victory-Class SDs in the books i've read.

Secutor is one of the few to dodge the retcon bullet too. It didn't become a ship until Sponge made incredible 3D renders of various ships and designs based off obscure DH Star Destroyers for the Emperor Reborn comics.

Well if you can't guess from my name.......

I'm also partial to Defenders, StarVipers, and A-wings

EDIT: Capital ship wise, all about the Republic Aesthetic. Acclamators and Venators.

I like the Star Wars aesthetic overall, but if I was picking just one favorite it's the EF76 Nebulon-B .

Nebulon-B is another ship I'm partial too.

I also love the Star Destroyer from Legacy. Pellaeon class kind of leaves the Imperial blockiness, and goes back to a Republic sleekness and elegance.

The Y-Wing. There's something relatable about a fighter who was designed to take a beating than actually try to make it a good fighter.

I also love the Liberty style Mon Cal Cruiser, the Bulwark Battle Cruiser and the Assault Frigate.

Y-wings take the top spot for me. The design of it is just so appealing.

The CR-90 Corvette is also a favorite of mine.

I even have a soft spot for the VCX-100 simply because it's based off of a B-17.

Nebulon-B is another ship I'm partial too.

Same here. OK, so the design was apparently originally based on an outboard motor, but there's just something unique about it.

Fav ships...man such a hard choice in all categories..

As a child, I liked the A-Wing, especially when playing Rebel Assault and Rogue Squadron 64, though as maturity hit and I grew up, the x-wing and Arc-170 took over. in the fighters slot.

The Falcon was always fun to fly in Rogue Squadron, but if I want a freighter to live on, I gotta go with either the Ghost, or the Sith Fury. There is something great about the WWII Bomber style of the ghost, and the Sith Fury is just the best way to combine classic Tie Fighters and the VT-49 Decimator to make something that looks pretty bad ass.

For Corvette class, hands down, without any sort of rethinking, is the Modified CR90, Night Caller, the pocket Carrier that Wraith Squadron stole from the Imperial Warlord. That ship was just really well designed in my mind.

Republic Venator hands down for capitol ship, the design hit me in a similar way as the night caller, I have a thing for well designed Carriers.

Granted, these are just a small handful of my "favs". The Royal Naboo Starship from E1, the N1 Starfighter as well, rank high with me too, and while the list can easly go on and on, Ill cut it here :3

From the very first I've always, always loved the CR-90. If I could've had my pick of any ship to command in all the multiverse, a CR-90 would be it.

And then this came along:

raider_corvette.gif

And I'm in love.

Favorite fighters: Gunboat, TIE Defender, TIE Hunter, K-wing, Skipray

Favorite multi-passenger ships: Firespray, YV-666

Favorite capital ships: ISD 2 hands down, followed by Praetor 2, Allegiance, and Endurance

Nebulon-B is another ship I'm partial too.

I've always favored Assault Frigates and Marauder Corvettes. Always thought the Modified Frigates looked better than the original. Now that I'm grabbing WEG pdfs, I'm very partial to the Tapani Manta fighters and Frigates.
