I've been seeing a lot of posts pertaining to this SW Armada Vassal system. But I actually don't know what it is at all. Can anyone explain to me what it is, how I can get it, and what I can do with it? Stuff like that to give me an idea about this system.
Armada Vassal
Look at vassalengine.org. It is a way to play board games online. It takes a little bit to figure out but I think it is almost easier than playing with the miniatures although maybe not as impressive. Since I don't have anyone playing Armada within 150 miles of me, it is the only real opportunity to play Armada against players that are really into the game. So far, almost all of my experiences have been great playing online although I have ran into a couple of players that take a lot longer than I do to figure out what they are going to do but to each his own. Green Knight on this forum would be the best source to help you get started but I could help you if you'd like.

Vassal is a tabletop emulator: it lets you play your favorite boardgames in you computer.
Each game is a downloadable "module.
The Armada one is here: http://www.vassalengine.org/wiki/Module:Star_Wars:_Armada
Let's be clear: It's not the same as sitting down around the table with your friends. It can't replace that. What it can do is let you A) experiment with new builds and tactics without, B) get to play games against opponents from all over the world and C) just get in some games if you don't have a big local community or don't have the opportunity to get out of the house to play.
The Armada module now supports the CC campaign.
What you get is:
- a digital map that you can put digital stickers on
- a space for each fleet to be created and stored between battles
- the ability to drag those fleets over to individual battlemaps for instant action
- tokens and credits to keep track of stuff like scarred and veteran status, saved resources
- a way to store the location of rebel outposts/bases
Edited by Green KnightIt says Vassal won't dl unless I have a Java Developer Kit. Where can I dl a trusted JDK? Because I can't dl the modele till I have the Vassal game itself, and I can't dl Vassal till I get this JDK.

That sounds very odd.
You just need the normal java runtime environment. Most computers already have that.

Is it because I'm running on a Mac? I'm using a Mac OS v10.12.2

No. You can run it on any computer. Mac, Windows, Linux. All you need is java runtime.
Which Java dl should I get? Java 8u111 or Java 8u112, and which dl mb?
Doesn't matter really, vassal will run on any of those. Pick the most up to date version.

So I just dled Vassal and now I'm completely confused lol. Help me out please? How do I add the SW Armada module to Vassal? I might ask more questions as I continue get used to Vassal.

For Mac use you may want to disable many of your default keyboard shortcuts, in the Settings menu. Many of the Vassal module keyboard shortcuts overlap with the default Mac settings. I found it much easier to use the Vassal module after switching things off.
Download star wars armada module. In vassal click, open module and select the armada module file.
Then find BiggsIRL blog guide for vassal.

I can't seem to find BiggsIRL's blog guide. It must be an old one and there's many topics and posts that he made. Can you send me the link?
You can also find tutorial videos on our Facebook page.

This is a lot more complicated than I anticipated lol

You get used to it eventually.
The problem I had was having to relearn all the keyboard shortcuts every time a new update got released, which was very frequently when I used to use it.

The setup is a bit cumbersome, but keep at it - the payoff is well worth it!
Learning bit by bit, very slowly. But once I do get it a bit, does anyone wanna help me with a run-through of my first battle? They could help me understand it more! Let me know, I'm also on the discord chat for Vassal

How late will you be up? I could do it, but not until about 1am EST
Unfortunately I won't be up that late. =( The latest is usually 1am, but I sleep right then too.
It was a bit of a learning curve for me too, but I practiced maneuvers with it before my first regional (recently) and it has really grown on me. The shortcuts are smooth and the ability to save your practice space can let you simulate your opening moves without a lot of cleanup between trials. Keep at it and try to rope a friend or something into trying it with you. I learned some of it by helping my brother play his first game.
Green Knight has done a fantastic job with it. Ya'll in the other public CC match better let him win so we keep him around for the long haul.

The hotkey changes are a thing of the past.
THe current layout is close to optimal and staying for the long run,
