Rebel Transport or Tantave IV?

By TBot, in X-Wing

I have the Transport, partially because of the Xwing and partially because it was way more affordable on its amazon sale price at the time I bought it :) I have used/use elements from it in standard play, and am hoping to get the Transport into an epic soon.

I still want to pick up the Tantive for epics, but it may be a while. Harder to justify the expense the less times it's used in a year.

The Rebel Transport comes with Porkins.

That's basically it for me.

GR-75. The campaign, for which you only need a reasonable standard X-Wing collection and one transport (the mission with three transports is an additional one outside the campaign), is one of my favourite things ever in X-Wing. It has so much replay value because of the rules for building your squadrons, it is well balanced if you don't use too crazy ships (having only x7 Defenders for the Empire would suck hard for Rebels i imagine), it can be played through in one (long, I'll give you that) session and it is just overall a blast!

This.

The Transport is iconic in a way almost beyond the CR-90 mostly due to the fact it looks nothing at all like any other space lore film ship of any created world, even way beyond Star Wars. Plus, it's cheaper, easier to store, easier to field (on a mat) and seemingly much more customizable (thanks to the Admiral being so eloquent and specific).

I will say however, the Shuttle Tydirium crew almost has me at adding a CR to my crazy fleet; they're good, real good.

Plus, beyond Wes and Tarn, you get "the duo" that almost matched the iconic Skywalker and R2-D2:

So That's how you use Prokins!

Thanks for all the responses. Sounds like I'm gonna buy a transport and play the campaign. However, I'm sure I will end up with every epic ship one day.

Another upside to the Transport is that it's needed in Heroes of the Aturi Cluster, which you should totally play. :)

R5-P8 is actually Porkin's astromech. If you give Porkins PTL and remove the stress, then he has only an 11% chance of still having that damage on him by the end of the turn. There is a good chance that you get no damage. So, he can TL and Focus. Or he can K-turn and get an action. Even if he does take damage, he still remove it at another turn. The damage will his his ship through shields, which is actually good. So, you can peel off for a turn or two and then remove the damage from his ship. It also works well if he has regular damage and you need to peel away to regenerate. I like Hull Upgrade to give him a double wide X-wing, but at this point you are putting a lot of points on a ship that isn't all that crazy.

He is PS 7, though, which is pretty good.

You could always go with cheap Ragin' Porkins that has Rage and his astromech. You can try to clear the stress. Make sure someone has Inspiring Recruit nearby and he gets to clear 2 stress. So, he gets a free Focus and can re-roll 3 dice. That's pretty darn good if you ask me. All that for 30 points. Man...that makes me want to go play a Porkins list tonight!
