Range 1 SCUM/Opinions wanted

Ran this list a couple of games against a friend. 1st game I lost, I blame bad flying with new list, 2nd game I destroyed his ships with 20 min left to go. Wondering if anyone else has tried something similar with positive results. Seems to me that good flying can make this list pretty hard hitting. Thoughts?

Also I have another version of this I have not tried yet dropping the extra munitions off Kavil, ID and VT off Talonbane, and added engine upgrade to Talonbane. Have not got to try it yet.

I've tried a similar list, without mindlink so Kavil could have VI for PS9 too. It's been fun, but swingy. If the dice favour you, you can win quite easily. If they don't, well, they die easily too.

Lots of fun is the key for me. I called mine the "Scummy Aces".

I've tried a similar list, without mindlink so Kavil could have VI for PS9 too. It's been fun, but swingy. If the dice favour you, you can win quite easily. If they don't, well, they die easily too.

Lots of fun is the key for me. I called mine the "Scummy Aces".

Did you use any ordinance with your list? I found the prox mine to be a nice sneaky touch for kavil.

Two things: firstly, I don't like having bombs on Y wings as it tends to increase the points cost above the threshold for how long it can stay alive for. Secondly, why the dorsal turret instead of the TLT? In my opinion the tlt, especially with an extra dice, gives a much higher chance of putting damage through. At the very least it's good for getting rid of tokens clearing the way for an attack from the other two (assuming you go with VI for kavil which I second as a good idea).

Also, I've seen people playing around with manaroo Aces which might be something cool to look into.

I didn't have enough points for any munitions - I didn't even have enough for autothrusters on Fenn Rau, although I could have swapped Kavil's VThrusters for them. I did have a TLT on Kavil, which was fine except for flying against Rey + Lothal where I could have done with more damage, but it's the only Range 3 turret available and Kavil really wants to keep his distance, and using the VT to stop his doughnut hole being exploited worked well.

The dorsal turret isn't worth using, I think. Kavil turns it into a 3 dice attack at range 2, and 4 at range 1, but an Autoblaster turret with 3 dice is much scarier for aces and costs less points. And the TLT is still better.

Overall, swapping Manaroo in and using Mindlink is stronger. I just don't like using Manaroo at the moment - she's too popular. I really want Assaj instead, but that means dropping Talonbane to a Concord Dawn Veteran or a HLC Scyk TPV.
