4 Budget Ace build help

By Elrodthealbino, in X-Wing

I like the idea of the budget (or pocket) aces for Imperials. I want to try to make a list with four of them. Any ideas would be great.

So far I am looking at:

Omega Leader 21

Juke 2. Comm Relay 3

Inquisitor 25

X1 Title. 1

Duchess 23

Ailerons 0

I am at a total of 75.

I could do something like Pure Sabacc with VI to get him to 8 with everyone else. I have open ept slots for adaptabilty on two of them. Or I could do Howlrunner, leaving room.for other upgrades peppered in. Although she is hardly an Ace.

Zeta Leader.... DONE!

You're looking for Crack Shot Tomax Bren at 25 points and PS 8.

Neat idea :)

You really want Autothrusters and PTL on Quiz, so that leaves you with 20 points. Also Dutchess probably wants either Adaptability or VI, so either 19 or 20 points left. There are 3 good options I see:

Zeta Leader for 20 (give them Adaptability), Countdown for 20, or Mauler Mithel with Rage! for 18 (either take a 1 point bid or give Mauler Mk II)

Forgot Lightweight Frame was a thing. Dutchess might want that. If so, you could take Mauler with Adapt, Same for Scourge, or whatever other TIE Fighter except for Howl that you want. Could take a Striker blocker too.

Duchess gets VI.

Countdown with Hull Upgrade and Ailerons fills the last slot.

I wouldn't want to use an Inquisitor at that level of budget though.

I second this.

Last regionals I ran a 5-ship budget ace list and did actually pretty well with it. Here's a link to my post about the list, and if you read the rest of the thread there is some more discussion about it. Maybe you'll find an idea you like for your last pilot.

My budget aces build for Imps was this:

Omega Leader: Juke, Comm Relay

Duchess: Adaptability, Adaptive Ailerons, Lightweight Frame

Countdown: Twin Ion Engine MKII

Delta Defender: x7 OR Deathfire: Extra Munitions, Homing Missile, Conner Net, LRS

How about:

The Inquisitor (25)
Push the Limit (3)
TIE/v1 (1)
"Omega Leader" (21)
Juke (2)
Comm Relay (3)
"Duchess" (23)
Trick Shot (0)
Lightweight Frame (2)
Adaptive Ailerons (0)
"Zeta Leader" (20)
Adaptability (0)
Total: 100
They will all be at PS 8. Though I struggle with Inq not having thrusters.

Just throwing together something quick for a 4 budget ace list:

Inquisitor + PTL + AT + Title (31)

Omega Leader + Juke + Comm Relay (26)

Scourge + Any 1 or 0 point upgrade (17–18)

Pure Sabacc + VI + LWF + Title (25)

Not sure how well this would perform, but it looks interesting.

As said, anything you can cut from NOT omega leader to get PTL thrusters Inqy

Would be far more than justified

Then countdown/zeta L VI pure sabby etc

Mauler and or Zeta leader with snap shot fits pretty nicely... Snapshot duchess? Snap shot everywhere!

Also been seeing Omega Leader with A score to settle as a really cheap ace. Not your end gamer but it is cheap and dirty.

My take on this, would be:

The Inquisitor (25)
Push the Limit (3)
Autothrusters (2)
TIE/v1 (1)

"Omega Leader" (21)
Juke (2)
Comm Relay (3)

"Zeta Leader" (20)
Adaptability (0)
Comm Relay (3)

"Countdown" (20)
Adaptive Ailerons (0)

Total: 100

Very similar to what brownj23 posted.

Even though Duchess is incredibly fun to play, and has some impressive reactive maneuverability, her offensive potential is the same as of any other Striker, and Countdown has some nice defense that needs no further upgrades. And you really don't want The Inquisitor flying without ATs, being your only piece that can reliably tackle fat PWTs. With Zeta Leader, there are basically 2 possible approaches - either 1 point for Wired and that's it, or Comm Relay plus Adaptability/Trickshot/VI/Cool Hand. You won't have much to do with those 2 saved points if you've chosen the budget Wired-only option (apart from maybe TC on Countdown?), and lack the one point for Comms+VI/Cool Hand, so Adaptability for triple PS8 it is.

While not really 'budget' I recently played:

Wampa

Omega Leader, Juke CommRelay

Countdown, title, shield upgrade

Soontir, PtL title Autothrusters Targeting Comp

It was actually pretty good, and fun too.

I'm intrigued by this:

The Inquisitor (25)
Push the Limit (3)
Autothrusters (2)
TIE/v1 (1)
"Omega Leader" (21)
Juke (2)
Comm Relay (3)
"Pure Sabacc" (22)
Veteran Instincts (1)
Lightweight Frame (2)
Adaptive Ailerons (0)
--Might remove title so its easier to fly these in formation to take advantage of the howl re-rolls.
"Howlrunner" (18)
Total: 100
An exercise in target priority.

All three Striker aces plus a doom shuttle with upgrades to taste.
