Every one has a Fav but i was just talking to a friend and was wondering what would get the most faves among X-Wing players .... If you feel the need to justify why you think one episode is the best please do so.

I'm going back and forth between Revenge of the Sith and The Empire Strikes Back.

I might get burned as a heretic by some but it's honestly a toss up between episode 4, episode 7, and rogue 1.

Return of the Jedi (yes, even with the Ewoks ).

Rogue One finally took the top spot from ESB. Both are darker, with the Rebellion in deep doo-doo, and "I am your father" remains one of the best reveals ever.

R1 wins out because it is the first "adult" SW film, with no campy characters and a gray-zone moral compass.

Either VI, VII or Rogue One. Still deciding.

It's hard really.
I grew up with the Prequels, so I don't mind them as much as most and even like them alot, Episode 7 was great and I liked it aswell

But when Rogue One came along it staggered me a bit. It was so awesome it even challenges the originals.
However I don't know if Rogue One is great of it's own or because it hits the right nostalgia points.

All in all I would probably go 5,3,7,6,4,2,1 and somwhere in there R1

RotJ, when I still cared about movies.

I think Rogue 1 might actually take it for me. Ep VII was a great reboot for the franchise but probably paid a bit too much homage to the original trilogy.

Given my age I don't feel such a nostalgia for the OT and I was well aware of the geneology well before it could be revealed in Empire. A New Hope is probably my favourite of them though.

The prequels bring up the rear.

EMPIRE

For me, it's:

1- Empire Strikes Back

2- A New Hope

3- Rogue One

4- The Force Awakens

5- Return Of The Jedi

then the prequels, probably in descending order Episodes 3-2-1.

Empire is clearly still the best in my opinion. A New Hope is the first movie I ever saw at the theatre, in 1977, when I was 6 years old. It had a huge impact (to say the least) and will always be very special. It started it all. Rogue One is amazing on many levels, but even though it can stand on its own as a great sci-fi war movie, it really needs all the context we've known for years, from the other movies, to truly be as epic as it is.

ESB, followed by ANH, then either RotJ, RotS or R1 - time will clarify that for me

One of my favorite things about R1 is that it makes it clear the director is HUGE into the SW universe, without it feeling like a copy of a previous film (VII = IV).

The tie-ins with Rebels, the original movies and characters, and (if you are really a SW geek), stuff like the Juggernaut Transport (from WEG Imperial Sourcebook) and the CSPL-12 rocket launcher (from WEG Galaxy Guide #10: Bounty Hunters). Those are Easter Eggs for die hards.

I think my order would be ESB, RotJ, ANH, R1, TPM, RotS, AotC, ANH 2(aka TFA).

I saw A New Hope when it first came out. I was an adult, too. It was an homage to movie serials of the 40s and 50s, which I saw on black and white TV. It holds a very special place in my heart, even when watching it now makes me wince every now and then. Paradoxically, even though it was an homage, it was so original in presentation, it was life-changing. George Lucas reached out and gave people like me something we could own that many others who maybe liked the film didn't quite understand. It was a coming out party for geeks that blew open the doors to what is now Fandom, for better and for worse, that you young whippersnappers take for granted.

Rogue One attaches to A New Hope in such an amazing way that it takes second place. It is not an homage nor has any roots in what inspired the original. That final scene may be the perfect hand-off to any sequel to any series of movies that has ever been filmed or may ever be filmed.

Empire Strikes Back improved the storytelling, introduced ATATs and gave us I am your father. Enough said.
