Broken Gamorean Weapon in JR

By Slugrage, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

Yeah, if you look into Asmodee and what they are about and who actually runs them, you will see that they are definitely of the "profits at all costs" ilk. The byproduct of which includes increasing revenues and cutting production costs. They are a business and obviously profit is their primary motivator but they are in danger of loosing consumer confidence. And being how niche and fickle the hobby gaming market is, that is not a situation they want to be in.

I'm glad Asmodee brings some elitism to board game circles. How am I going to show off my wealthy status if all of the poor people can afford to buy the same games and still eat!

Maybe the poor people need to use glue from potatoes, but I can afford superglue. Just imagine the amount of admiration I'm getting for that!

Bring back the power of the 10% !

I'll blame it on the acquisition by Asmodee Group. I have nothing to back that up. But the timing is in sync. And we've seen them force price increases to online retailers because they think they can beat capitalism. Cheaper plastic/manufacturing as well? Who knows.

I don't know if that checks out... the quality of the sculpts, at least, has only gotten better since IA launched. The detail on Chewie's bowcaster is awful compared to what we're seeing on recently released figures. Descent 2nd Ed came out in 2012, IIRC, and its minis were all shipped in the same baggie / packaging that Jabba's Realm used.

As far as I know, FFG has switched to 3D design and 3D-printing of prototypes.

Interesting link. Seeing the sculptor's profiles, etc. may be revealing about some of the duds.

No broken axes, but the top of one of my weequay's rifles was busted. I was out of super glue so I left it. Might break another one's to match and have it help identify the groups. Their blasters are kinda snub nosed. Maybe it helps them deal more damage :P , ooooor be less accurate :/

That's an idea, one of mine is completely missing the end of his, might make it a double to identify

One of the Guards is completely missing the end of his weapon, not in the pack or anything, I opened up the bag in the main box after taking everything out - always do that to keep everything in 1 place

Just FYI, because it seems like a lot of people are content to just keep their broken minis- FFG replaces these free of charge. You shouldn't have to settle for a broken product, and they're fantastic about amending their shipping and packaging errors.

I had three broken Gams and my hero cards had weird dents on the face of them.

I contacted Asmodee and I'm hoping for the best.

Huh. I have the same weird dents on my Shyla hero card. Like they were clawed...?

So a lot of issues with Rancor munching stuff during long boat trip... had a guard with broken axe, another hanging on by a thread, jet trooper with lower leg broken clean off. All of which i can glue. and that Rancor base! it's concave and won't even line up with feet.

One of mine is on the verge of breaking off as well.

However with the hand being so near the spearhead and the part thickness I think you could just cut it off and drill holes in the hand and the spear and then pin the parts together.

It will also be interesting to see in what kind of shape the figures end up with the customers outside of US. (Like myself. Maybe next week or the week after that.)

Mine arrived with one Weequay gun broken off at the top (struggling to get glue to hold it :(

Other than that everything was ok though

Completely agree on this one.

I think broken weapons aside the sculpts, mould lines, and detail is a vast improvement on what we had a year or so ago!

I feel lucky to only have 1 gam with a broken axe. A friend of mine had a broken Gam along with receiving 2 top head pieces of the Rancor without a bottom piece of the Rancor head. We both had issues with mounting the base of the Rancor.

I had 2 broken figures, but only minor breaks. One of the trooper jets and the tip of the hair on one of the Weequay. I did get 2 packs of pegs for the troopers though (I imagine you are only supposed to have one, unless they are meant to fly super high), so that kinda makes up for it.

Anyone know how they are treating this? I had three broken.

When I got a Diala that was literally snapped in half in my core set, FFG sent me a new one, no ifs or buts or questions asked, all the way from Minnesota to Warsaw, Poland.

Then again, that was before the Asmodee merger, so YMMV now.

I want to report as the first (?) customer to have a fully accounted for Jabba's Realm wave shipment with no broken bits.

I will need to get the Rancor to open up her legs wider to fit the receptables in the base though.

Edit: this is easily accomplished by keeping the legs submerged in hot water for 5 minutes.

I have had figures replaced in the same way since the acquisition, including for products released before that happened. I bought Descent 2nd Ed recently, had a busted Eshin, and they replaced it at no cost, quickly, and without any evidence that it was a new purchase.

Hah, I'm in the exact same situation, legs and all.

This is what it sounds like when doves cry...

Submitted my request on Jan 8th, still waiting for my replacements to come.

Not to rub salt in anyone's wounds, but my box was without any broken figures and the Rancor fit together pretty well...

That said, the Gamorrean and Weequay moulds have some significant weak points that could easily break...

weequay broken (1), guards broken (2), arm of the female hero ripped off at shoulder level, rancor doenst fit base.

Try hot water for the rancor legs. Keep the legs in hot water for 5 minutes and fitting into the base should go pretty easily. Then put the combination thing into the fridge to cool.
