Casual is good! I also need to hear more about Destiny. I've only played a few games and not really delved into it.

I have to admit that the tournament talk and trashing a ship before it comes out much as not very casual.

I think it's fine. Casuals can play/talk about the tourney scene as well. In fact, it can be all they talk about and it can still be casual. This bridge needs to be built anyways. I'm tired of tournament play discussion automatically meaning something is no longer "casual". Casual simply means laid back, not taking itself too seriously, and enjoying the ride, which this podcast seems to do. Believe it or not, there are actually casual players who attend tournaments consistently and enjoy playing this game COMPETITIVELY CASUALLY. Casual and competitive are not restricted from one another.

And along with that, what's wrong with calling out a ship/pilot before its release? This has been done numerous times and proven true on a number of occasions. It has also been done and people had to eat their words later when they were flat out wrong. Making a statement about your feeling on a ship doesn't disqualify you as a "casual" player. It just means you know how to use your brain and make personal conclusions based on evidence and/or experience.

Somewhere along the way this forum seems to have gotten it in their head that if someone cares about theme over everything else, then they and only they are casuals. And if someone ever looks at the game in a way detached from theme (i.e. Luke in his current state is a poorly costed pilot), then they are suddenly no longer casual because they read the text on the card and determined it wasn't very good for themselves.

Lets all say it together everyone until it sticks- Casual and competitive can coexist. Casual and competitive can coexist. Casual and competitive...

But I'm sure you know all this. I hear you used to play in tournaments, but don't anymore. :P

Not working for me. Can't get the episode to download.

Sorry to hear this Ramy. Hopefully when we get the episodes up on Itunes (and maybe soundcloud) it will be easier.

Thanks for taking the time to listen and provide some feedback. We have some fun, non-tournament episodes in the queue, but we still all play in tournaments (or in my case, usually TO). It will be a part of our podcast. Will it be our sole focus? No. And in the coming episodes I feel that will be more apparent.

I get that people can play tournaments and also play more casual. I get that. I guess my biggest beef was really more with declaring the Tie Striker dead on arrival. I hate it when people just say it will never really work without giving it too much of a chance. Or...someone talking about the meta and what is good/not good. I guess I listened to all the other podcasts for so long before I started mine and so often everyone just trashed 80% of what came out in a new wave and only even tried the broken aspects. It just reminded me of that when I listened.
