For me it depends on what I have on the table. If it is Poe and 2 or more ships, I run R5 and Pattern Analyzer. If I am flying Poe with Rey/Dash or something that can melt pretty quick, I run sensor cluster to give him a little added tank feature. That way if the freighter melts, I can have a focus, turn one eye to an evade with Poe's ability and then spend the focus to trigger sensor cluster and get my additional evade if need be. So for me it is squadron dependent.
Poe: Pattern analyzer vs. Sensor cluster
I've run a lot of different Poe builds, I feel PA is almost always better than SC. SC only is a good use on two occasions(never with R5-P9), either if it is the last ship attacking you that round, so you won't need the focus anymore, or if it will prevent certain death. With PA, I am more free to K-turn or T-roll and still get the focus. For me, PA is glued to Poe, until the focus version of Comm Relay comes out.
My go to build is PTL, R2d2, AT, SC, B1. At 43 or 45 points, he is expensive, but so good.
I also enjoy the mobile/dodge Poe with PTL, R2 Astromech, PA, VT and B1. He is 40 or 42 points, but so unpredictable and fun to fly. It's just hard to not put in a few more points for a tank.
Pattern Analyzer is far, far superior. Using R2D2 on Poe is kinda wasteful as he is going to have a focus lying around, use it for regen and let someone else have R2D2. Plus, Autos > Clusters.
Poe with Autos, PA, Push, and R5P9 is insanely frustrating to take out.
Uh, you realize autothrusters doesn't compete with sensor cluster, right? Poe + R2-D2 + Sensor Cluster + Autothrusters is a full on tank.
And I'm not the biggest fan of R5-P9 Poe right now, just because my local meta is swimming in Asajj's. At least this way, I can still regen.
I agree my 2 evades w/ focus or 1 without with the Sensor Cluster/Auto + R2 he's an absolute tank. While I understand why for arc dodging techniques PA might be needed; All I'm looking for is as many red dice rolls as possible and with Rey on the board most the time my Poe is forgetten because Rey is always considered the focus. And if my opponent chases Poe instead of Rey then that's exactly what I want - I want Rey the Huntress with rerolls expertise and Finn. It's a pick your poison.
So yes I agree R2D2 + Autothrusters + Sensor Clusters + Black One + VI (I want to move last and shoot first!) FTW

Cassian's got poe's back
Especially with Jyn in the back to feed Poe's
spice
Focus token habit.
Stick Jan along for the ride and she can feed Poe an evade too.

PTL with Pattern Analyzer seems odd, so you never can use both in a round

When you perform a green maneuver you can PTL, get the stress, then resolve the green to remove the stress. It's perfect with R2d2 and Black One. You can do a 3 straight, boost (=5 straight), regen, removing a TL and still focusing without a stress. Or you can essentially do a 3 green turn (1 bank+boost) and still focus and regen, it's amazing the possibilities with PA and PTL.
When paired with R2 Astromech it's even nicer.
PTL Poe must have pattern analyzer always.
PTL Poe must have pattern analyzer always.
Or BB-8 which allows similar shenanigans and is potentially even better with Black 1. Using a non-regen droid is when you might want to invest in SC so that you have something useful to spend that focus token on.

This ^. I've been playing Poe lately with PTL, PA, R2-D2, Black One, and Autothrusters and it's really, really good. PA combines really nicely with PTL, but then also helps you out when you need to k-turn/TRoll. Poe never really liked turning around much until now, PA really gives him a lot more movement options.

Ah nice, was not aware of that chronology. Thx
