what is a "triggered ability"?

Does this ability exhaust since he has to pay to use it?

Can the defending player use it, or is it only applied to the offensive player?

This card seems extremely over-balanced in the hands of the defender, since there is no way to determine which of your cards he will blank and take.

Yesterday a different question about his ability came up in my game:

What happens if the triggered ability I'm copying includes the name of the original card? Is the name replaced by 'Richard Upton Pickman' or does the original name stay?
