Me and some friends sometimes play Catan and I would like to get all the expansions, but I am confused as to what to get since there is so much catan stuff out there. I have the base game, 5th ED I beleive right now, and I saw this on ebay:
But since it only says 5-6 player expansion, does that mean I have to buy a regular traders and barbarians as well as that one? On amazon all the expansions seem to be in the $50 range so I will gladly buy this one on ebay if it is one I need
If you want to play 5-6 players you need the expansion plus the 5-6 players add on.
Per example Seafarers of Catan plus 5-6 players expansion.
I love Catan as a a simple game. 6 players are too much and the game too slow. Catan is a superb 3 or 4 players game. Seafarers is a must if you enjoy the game. But, like Carcasonne... KEEP IT SIMPLE,SOLDIER
Hold off a bit as the Mayfair English products go away this month and new versions of all Catan product will be released throughout 2017. No news yet if the new stiff will still be 4 player base and expansions to 5-6 or something different but they have said lots of new things for the Settlers during this year.

Not at all. You have the Mayfair going away final edition exclusive.
Catan Studios broke off from Mayfair and now controls the english language design and publication. The plan was to sell through the Mayfair product while firming up new designs and product then move to the new production and distribution chains (FFG) in the late spring of this year.
