Evade

By Rlupino, in Mansions of Madness

If you use an evade action to move out of an occupied monster space and it fails but does not cause you to lose an action... Can you try to evade again? For that matter can you evade as many times as you like as long as you have actions to use and it is still a valid option... IE... You have not successfully evaded.

When you attempt to make an Action (other than an Attack) in a space with a monster you need to pass an Evade check. This needs to be done for every Action you try to make. For example if you attempt to search a space with a monster, you need to Evade, and if you then try to move away you will need to Evade a second time.

Similarly if you failed that first search, you could try again but it will require a second Evade for that Action.

So I get that.. But sometimes the evade check comes back as a fail or as a just not pass... But you do not pose you action... So if I were to try to move and I fail the evade but do not lose my action as part of failing the evade... I can keep trying to evade as long as I have actions left to take?

If you attempt an evade, but do not lose your action as part of failing, the action still occurs. For example, if on your first action of a turn you try to move out of a space with a monster in it, and you fail the evade (taking damage or whatever) but it does not say you lose your action, you would then move and still have an action left that you wouldn't need to make evade checks for(assuming you didn't move into a space with another monster).

Simply put, when you attempt an action that triggers an evade check, that action is only stopped if the app specifically tells you that you lose the action. Otherwise, the action occurs but you're punished for it.

Ahhhh.... Thank you.. That makes much more sense. The text from the evade check is not that clear. In future updates they should update the text with successful or failed evade as part of the result. Often times it just states the monster hits you for 1 facedown damage... Or something to that effect and its unclear if you evaded or not... But this clears it up for me.

Thanks!
