Firefly-esqe game

By smashfiend, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Where is this game? Whose the awesome GM, and how can I get me some of that sweet sweet narrative back story action?

I run a campaign heavily inspired by Firefly, as well. Titled Star Wars: The Raggedy Edge, it features the following cast of characters.

From left to right:

Osimiri - A young Zabrak Nightsister, taken by the Empire as a child, and experimented upon in an attempt to better understand how the Nightsisters manipulate the Force in their unique way. The experiments have left her mind a bit damaged. She stowed away aboard the group's ship at the start of the second session, and has been around ever since. Yes, she can kill you with her brain.

"The One" - A Squib Heavy. He just likes shooting things.

Jaindo - A Twi'lek pilot, who was also - unknown to all but the captain - a member of the Rebel Alliance. The player dropped out, so she was last seen being overwhelmed by a group of zombies.

Kab Hyoqui - A battle-weary former Jedi who escaped Order 66 and found a new life as a smuggler. Until recently, only his first mate knew he'd been a Jedi, but circumstances forced him to reveal that to the rest of the crew.

Hahljhardan - A balding Wookiee bounty hunter who came aboard the ship following a former crew member with a price on his head. He's found that some of the others do, as well, and considered cashing in on them. The first mate bought off the first bounty, but has since threatened him against considering doing so again. He also serves as the group's de facto medic.

Nzuri - A Zabrak marshal, she ultimately left the area under her protection, to be hired by Kab as his first mate. She often leads the group on jobs, and makes sure they all stay in line.

Eri'anya Drayen - If that is indeed her real name. (It isn't.) She came on board playing the meek victim being pursued by hired muscle for an abusive ex-boyfriend, and agreed to take a job as the ship's cook. She's really a thief and con artist who was running from a small-time crime boss that she'd stolen a valuable item from. She's got over a dozen aliases (and a handful of husbands under those aliases), but she's currently cut off from most of them. She's also Force sensitive but doesn't know it...it just gives her Influence and assists in her cons.

Verrack - The awkward young Mon Cal mechanic, who's started tinkering around as a droid tech.

Together, they crew the Wayfarer medium transport Lightspeed Vagabond , taking what jobs they can find. Currently, they're helping Eri'anya hunt down a fabled treasure while also getting caught up in the smuggling trade of a mysterious new spice they're having second thoughts about. And, in exchange for free docking space, they occasionally do work for a Rebel cell on Naboo that operates under cover of a legitimate private paramilitary group a la Blackwater.

Has anyone played an EotE game actually set in the Firefly universe, with Reavers and Blue Sun?

My current campaign is in the Firefly 'Verse. It overlaps with the movie, with the first session seeing another element of The Operative's "Order 66" purge. The players have encountered Reavers, participated in a succession war between factions intent on replacing Badger, and crossed paths with Womack multiple times.

If you're so inclined, the summaries for the first two episodes/sessions can be found here:

My EotE game is set in the Star Wars universe, but there are Reavers. They're an ongoing subplot percolating along in the background. The Empire dismisses them as merely a vicious band of pirates who've already been largely destroyed, but the PCs have learned that may not be the case. We'll see if the PCs ever do anything with the information.

If there will be one random force sensitive, it might be worthwhile to at least think about setting that up in advance. Many of the talents in fnd could be used without knowing one if sensitive - essentially just putting the restriction on overt force powers until the 'awakening'. Putting this out there because it seems to me that getting your force sensitive to a place you could call them a force user requires significant xp investment - investment that non-sensitives can put into skills and talents. Essentially, if the restriction is in place for story reasons, awesome, that's a lot of fun. If it's in place for balance reasons, it's unnecessary.
