So i am still not entirely sure that this actually works so i wanted your guys opinion. Also this inst a whole fleet build but could be added to your fleet. With the new Corellian Conflict there is a new tie pilot: Valen Rudor which states that "While a enemy squadron is engaged with another squadron it cant attack you." I was thinking you could possibly pair it with the Imperial Raider with the title "instigator" which reads "Enemy squadrons at distance 1 are treated as if they are engaged by 2 additional squadrons, even if there not currently engaged." So if the rebel player flew in a x wing at distance 1 of the Instigator it would technically make the x wing engaged therefore not being able to attack Valen Rudor. So what do you guys think? does this not work or did i just create the Invincible tie Fighter? Obviously if a ship with anti squadron dice attacked it it still could be destroyed so not completely invincible but i think its still pretty cool. Please leave a comment.
Invincible Tie fighter?
As I understand it, you wouldn't be able to attack Valen, but you would be able to attack the Instigator as you must attack enemy fighters first if able. In this situation, you would not be able to, so you would be able to attack Instigator instead.
The green goblin is right.
When a squadron attacks, it must attack an engaged
squadron if possible rather than an enemy ship.
This phrase resolves a lot of the engagement weirdness around Instigator.
For example, when it first came out, there was a small subset of people who had the crazy idea that Instigator was invincible to squadrons at distance 1 altogether, because they were treated as engaged by the title. This is the same thing: if you can't attack the engaging squadron because it doesn't exist or because it's Valen, you can attack Instigator.
I think he just talk about attacking Rudor. I would say yes, this way Rudor can't be a target so he would be invencible as long as:
1. Don't be focused by ships.
2. Don't suffer damage from other sources like Mithel, Soontir, Boba, Numb
3. Instigator was alive.
