The Thing in the Woods (fanmade) Ready to Print and Play

By lmartin91, in Arkham Horror: The Card Game

After a busy holiday season I still have yet to print it all off, but I plan to do that in the next week or so, then it'll just be finding the time to play it. Really looking forward to it!

cool man thanks. I'm really interested to know what mechanics work and what don't or need tweaked.

This is really cool. I'll try it out soon!

I've printed it out and yet to play - I may give it a go this weekend. Regardless of when, I'll be sure to post feedback.

Is it me or is something wrong with these files?

Page 2 is 7MB but a lot of the others are as large as 90. Then when I open then in my PDF reader, they're blinking numerous pages at me before finalizing one. I'm not a PDF master but did you keep the other pages as layers underneath the actual page?

Yes, I did not realize leaving all the layers on would export them all. Once I realized this, I reuploaded all the pages to fix this.

@monorico - totally agree with breaking it up into 3 scenarios.

If you were breaking it up which Act/Agendas would form each of the three parts?

Having printed it I have not played it yet but keen to give it a go.

I wouldn't want to spoil the surprises waiting for you. Theoretically, it could be split up and each one expanded upon. Maybe I'll do that in the future. As of right now, I'm a bit burnt out on this project and just letting it live as is for now.

Downloaded the whole lot and as usual trying to not look to closely at the cards before the first play through.
Will of course provide you feedback, as this one seems to be really rather large and intense so sure your quoted 40-50h of effort are more like 60h and more :)

Could i suggest one thing though. All the pages merged into one download file would be great.

Many thanks for providing this to us!

I can do that! Actually, Tangram11 on BGG helped me with this.

Looking forward to your feedback. I didn't intend for this thing to get so big, but much like the Horror itself, it grew very fast. As I read the story, I would make notes about what themes and concepts from it could become cards. And then I started to piece it together.

Just as a heads up, progress tokens = visible tokens. This will make sense later. I changed the name of the token and failed to update one card with the new name.

All printed, so when I have a spare moment I shall be cutting, glueing and sleeving ready for a game with my regular investigating partner! As we tend to play after work before heading home, how long have you found it takes to play? Just want to manage expectations of my other half!

The first couple times, probably 60-70 min. Once you know everything, it goes faster. 40 min tops

the 15 pg PDF is all I need right?

Played through on 2 player with Roland and Daisy. We did pretty well but still had some questions. For the "Spawn" cards, did you intend to just have the specified monster simply move and reset tokens on it? It was not clear reading through the main rules. Also, when and how does "Wilbur's Chantings" come into play? Either I missed that part entirely, or it was not clearly stated in the Agenda or Act deck.

Other than a few minor typos (a couple of as or is instead of has or his), we thought it was a very enjoyable adventure. I liked the idea of being able to advance the Act deck by a variety of different methods. We were fairly successful in not drawing a lot of obstacles, so the oozes didn't come out a lot in the first part of the adventure.

The wizard seemed easy to defeat, again maybe we just got lucky with card draws. Maybe he should be scalable with an additional 1 or 2 health per investigator?

I would definitely echo the sentiment that this could be broken into parts. That would allow investigators to start at Level 0 and then gain XP and cards. The first part may have been too easy because we started with more XP scenario level as per the guidelines on the breakdown of fanmade scenarios on BGG.

Can't wait to play this, this has landed in my lap at the perfect time. I'm currently waiting for games night (stupidly I can't play solo without ruining the reveal ;) ) and i feel I need to save it for the party, although just one peek...

The problem with q&a is *spoilers*. So I'm hoping that all has been tweaked, if not the "grim" shall return.

Thanks in advance.

Is it possible that the 3. page is 99MB? why? :/
(summa: 507 MB ???)

I can't seem to download the Big Zip File....
