Imperial Creature Feature

By buckero0, in Imperial Assault Skirmish

I'm interested in running a creature based imperial list. After briefly playing Terro and Dewbacks, I LOVE Terro and I'm not as impressed with the Dewbacks (I may have been trying to force the shock pole too much) I thought that adding Nexu or actually elited Nexu might give me what I'm looking for in the way of more Creature figures and then I thought the Rancor might also work. Due to their size, the Nexu are more appealing (playing the rancor without beast tamer is a recipe for disaster I think)

We've got great Creature cards

Ferocity

Size Advantage

Survival instincts

Feral Swipes

What do you guys think? Can you help me fill this out? is Feeding Frenzy a must? How many? Dewbacks deserve a second chance if nothing else, to through Grenadier and cav charge and a ranged attack.

Rancor with an Imperial officer to drive him forward still works pretty well, only shorting you two movement points that are generally made up for by just how far the Rancor's threat range is.

Combine Wild Fury with Single Purpose and the Rancor's Reach, and you can attack four times across a surprisingly wide area. Toss in To the Limit and you can actually move then attack four times, or just attack five times.

Also, Crush.

Crush, I knew I was forgetting something. Wild Fury+Single Purpose is a good one, I've never used that. It would be nice to have fleetfooted as well in case you kill someone a little too quickly, you could move up and slam another guy with your wild fury. Reg and elite officers would be useful here.

thanks

I was suspicious about that "5 times" until I looked up those command cards, yeah it's possible although you need those 3 exact CCs in your hand

but I'm not sure you can move+attack x4 mainly due to "To the Limit":
Single purpose (may use special action x2)
Wild fury (may attack multiple times)

Action 1: move

Action 2: brutality (2)
To the limit (one more action after resolving special) <-- "let you do an action" vs. "let you do a special action"? not sure about ruling on this one. My gut says yes since a special action is still an action
Action 3: attack (1) / brutality(2)
P.S: don't forget Beast Tamer

I'm not sure Single Purpose allows you to do brutality again, even with Wild Fury, but I could be wrong. Regardless, killer combo!

Beast Tamer is definitely great in a Scum specific list. It makes Pummel worth taking, since then the Rancor can keep the two black defense dice, move, and then attack twice (even the same target)

It's true for maximum crazy attacks you need 3 cards, but between Jabba helping you draw command cards on the Scum side, or sheerly holding terminals and using Planning on the Imperial, it's not hard to at least get Wild Fury + Single Purpose over the course of a game, and that is potentially a LOT of damage, particularly if the Rancor manages to cleave twice or more.

I'm having a lot of fun playing with him and figuring out how best to apply him, both for Scum and Empire.

It does.

Wild Fury suspends the "one action to attack per activation" allowing Single Purpose to trigger Brutality twice.

The specific attack restriction was brought up recently when reviewing why Luke Skywalker can attack multiple times.

The problem with all the creatures is you'll struggle to use them all properly. Especially on some of the tighter maps.

The Rancor will displace the others but it's really easy to block yourself in or block line of sight with the 2 and 4 size bases, especially because they can't move diagonally.

Try it and see but I think you'll find very quickly that it's a nightmare to properly coordinate your units.
