Regionals Top 4 Point Dials

By Eilsar, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

Does anyone else's point dial spin too freely? I can literally spin mine like the wheel from the price is right.

I've tried putting slips of paper, little rubber bands, and even a small gasket in between the stem and the hole to little effect.

Just thought I'd bring it up to see if anyone had a viable answer.

Thanks in advance for your ideas.

I have a bossk dial. It is a tripod base and the top dial sits inside. It can be removed easily and just loosely sits in the lower dial. I assumed the top and bottom sections were attached, but mine arent.

It is quite loose.

I did see that it is removable and that's how I tried all of my fixes. It's a total bummer. Makes me want to trade it for something else.

What about a little bit of something like vaseline between the dials to add some friction? I think they're plastic so easy to wipe off if it doesn't work.

I might be interested if you decide to go this route.

Mine from nationals has a nice amount of friction. I wonder what the difference is. They look like the same design.

Which dials do we all have? They might be different. Mine is the bossk dial. Are the vader dials tighter?

Honestly, the dials a pretty terrible.
I find they spin to easily when you pick them up. Lying flat puts a bit of weight down on the dial and holds it a little bit.

The other problem is the cut out for selecting the number is tiny and the rotating part is really thick.

It's quite hard to actually see the number. It's basically impossible without standing over the **** thing, and just as hard for your opponent.

all FFG had to do is release a better version of the turn/threat tracker. That would have been fine. Add 0 to the turn dial and make it a nice thin acrylic. Done. Problem solved.

I've played a few games with the new tracker dial (the one from regionals) and I don't think I'll use it again.
Might make my own maybe? or just go back to the trusty turn/threat counter.

I'm working on 3D printing my own 2 player point tracker. The biggest problem I've run into is on the points side, trying to fit 0-40 really crowds the circle making the points have to be rather small and tightly spaced, but then the window to see them has to be pretty small to not show other numbers and be confusing. Only having 20 numbers on the turn/threat tracker makes it able to be larger numbers/window. When I get a satisfactory prototype I'll try and put up pics.

I think it's just heaps easier to have a tens column and a ones column.

That way you only need little wheels with 0-4 and 0-9

I wouldn't mind if the window to see the numbers was bigger and had an arrow pointing to the main number.
As long as it's clear and easy to read there's no reason you can't see the other numbers.

I knocked this up in 15min today

Can tweak the sizes and whatever. Could use little screws or those black bits from X-Wing dials.

Could even stretch it out a bit and have a 2 player version.

Quick and easy to use. If both dials go 0-9 then you can use it for lots of other games.
