Normal bow

By Allavandrel, in WFRP Rules Questions

This question has surely been asked already, but I couldn't find it on the boards:

What is the stats for a normal bow???

A Longbow is "a large and powerful version of the bow" and "little used by the people of the Empire" (p. 77).

A Shortbow is "a smaller, cheaper, shorter ranged version of the bow intended ffor combat while mounted" (p. 77).

Typically there isn't such a thing as a "normal" bow - it's always been either a Long or a Short bow (or sometimes Compound - but that's not very Warhammery).

If the people of the Empire don't use Longbows, and Shortbows are intended for mounted ranged attacks, what kind of bows do they use then??

I think FFG originally had a short, "normal" and long bow but they forgot to update the flavour text of the long and short bow (and certain careers like the hunter) after they removed the "normal" bow. I'd think the people of the empire most commonly use the short bow or the crossbow with a few rare hunters using the long bow.

The standard missile weapons of the Empire are the Crossbow and the Handgun if you look at any army list for the miniatures game.

If you wanted to have a regular bow it wouldn't be too hard. Remove the piercing that a Longbow gets... then maybe it a damage and/or range band. Not in front of my books, but would try to make it between the long and shortbow obviously! :)
