Best way to a paint cloaked Phantoms

By Dedmanzhand, in Star Wars: Armada Painting and Modification

Seriously though, any ideas? I have seen a few X-Wing scale schemes with electric which look cool. Not sure that would work at this scale.

Am thinking I may leave one squadron matt black, and mist lightly with a spray can to look space-like.

Great paint scheme. How did you manage to get the paint so transparent? Keep up the good work! ;)

If you can keep your lightning lines thin, then Black/Halved Cloak effect will work.

I'm honestly thinking flat black for one of my sets with some speckles of white. Maybe.

I was planning on either matte black, or paint it with mechanicus standard grey and give it a heavy nuln oil wash to dull it out, like how they were depicted going into cloak in Rebel Assault II.

I think you went too heavy on the wash.

And first testing.

They'll look MUCH Better with Black Stands and a typical Black-Mat gaming Background.......

But still a ton of work to do - they havn't even seen a Wash yet.

I plan on doing what Drasnighta has done. If you're not confident doing thin electrical lines, lay down the whites and blues thick then 'cut in' to them with the black.

Which blue dras?

I think I will do one squadron as above, and one fully cloaked (Matt black with white speckles)

Has anyone thought of cutting them where the blue lightning would be ?? So really disappearing.

When I'm FINALLY allowed... lol I'll probably try one myself.

I considered it, but personally, after doing the simple cuts on X-Wings to make Z-95s, I determined the plastic as to be too hard to do it easily...

You could totally do it, but to have it look nice and neat would probably mean jewlers saw, or a lot of filing to clean up if you use clippers to do the job.

I mean, if its a little cloak - like just the nibs at the end, yeah, okay, not so bad...

But something that's closer to the meaty part of the squadron is tough - as well as accoutning for the Peg to still be there..
