Anybody find a use for those Phantoms yet?
Whisper is a great bomber that slips away from engagement.

the first wave 5 game I played I had Ciena Ree, Maarek Steele, and three TIE Defenders. My opponent had green squadron, one A-wing, dagger squadron, Ten Numb, Gold squadron, two Y-wings, and two X-wings. At the end of the game he only had two Y-wings left, I lost nobody
That is the power of the Defender my friend!
All hail Maarek Stele ![]()
Well after my first play test, Defenders, and Morna Kee are definitely amazing. Morna with her re-rolls and 8 hull with no heavy is just awesome. Jendon and Maarek are an amazing duo! Maarek moves during the squadron phase, Jendon gets him to attack. Great combo late game when my squadron commanding ships had died.
Didn't use generic Lamdas or Whisper so no comment on them.
Phantoms are still to quirky for me to decide on yet.
I think the Decimator and Defender will become a usual part of my list (I usually go for 70-100 points of anti-squad) but in small numbers.

2 Liberties, 1 Salvation, Jan, 5 X-wings, Rogue Squadron, 2 A-wings and Sato. My opponent never used his squads offensively, just used them to stop me bombing. In retrospect I should have gone after the 2 A-wings hanging around my flagship to stop Sato.
Wow, cool game! Sounds like your squads did pretty well then!
It was only problem was all the new toys were too pricey to make it into an effective list so from now on I will be supplementing the original squads with new ones
I love how Morna, Bossk, IG, Boba, Vader y Rudor could be in the same fleet. I didn't try yet but...
And there are a lot of combinations between characters. Just put your favourites.
I'm thinking Zerik and Bossk will make a natural tag team
Played my first game against defenders and holy smokes did I underestimate them. One generic defender and Maarek tore through my 3 x-wings with Jan support way faster than I intended. I alpha struck Maarek with 2 Yavaris'd X-wings, but thanks two 0 hits on 4 dice x wing rolls only brought him to 2 hull. The two defenders were then able to melt one X and take the other to 2 hull thanks to Jendon/Marek double tap shenanigans. All three X's were gone by the start of turn 4.
Albeit the game would have gone very differently if Maarek didn't survive my alpha due to Drasnighta-esque rolling, but it still punished my mistake of underestimating the price I would pay by letting the defenders get rolling even out numbered against my X-wings.
1 Defender + Maarek tore through 3 Xwings with Jan around? that sounds like insanely bad luck on the Rebel side to me.
They should have ripped AN xwing apart since they had brace and 2 ships will have to hit really really hard to cut through brace. Also you cant Accuracy Jan's brace unless shes the defender so you cant rob the xwing of "his" defense tokens that way.
The activation was Jendon, generic Defender, and Maarek Stele for 2 Maarek attacks and 1 Defender. They killed one X outright, and then the two firesrays contributed some damage to knock the other one down to 2 hull, but that initial counterattack with the defenders lost the squadron game for me. I knew I was gambling by reaching out to kill Maarek early with the X's, and if I hadn't completely whiffed on 2 of 4 attacks then he wouldn't have limped off with 2 hull. But that's the fun of the game! When you roll the dice, sometimes you win, sometimes you lose.
And there was some bad luck for sure, but nothing I would have considered extreme. He didn't miss much, but with blue dice and Jenden's ability to guarantee the hit/crit with his black dice it's just a lot of damage pouring out.
End point is less about the intricate details of my one anecdotal experience and more about the fact that Defenders have a huge amount of potential for damage and utility for a mere 3 points over an X-wing.

initially i thought "but maarek cant resolve crits on squadrons..." but then i remembered he has black AA dice. The crit face has a hit on it.
Yup, he literally never misses. He will always do at least 1 damage to squads and 1 crit to ships.
It looks like it has squadrons more suited to support fleet lists instead of just sporting other squadrons. Interdictor with Grav shift reroute and a couple of Lambdas make objective markers that much more powerful for one side.

With the new objectives and strategic I was wondering if the experimental upgrades we have could be a bit different. I mean: we have and objective that allow players to do what is supposed to be a unique skill of the interdictor.
The interdictor is still unique but it didn't do enough on the objectives side of things. Not to mention it was priced so you only take one Interdictor in your fleet instead of two or three. So with the help from the shuttles the Interdictor can make for a list that plays heavily on objectives, which would might make your opponent choose red if you got the bid.
Just played a game relying heavily on Relay with a generic Lambda. Holy smokes you can get your value from 15 points, just one let's you activate all your squads in bouts of 2 at a time. Definitely worth it, another winner!
