Hi fellow pilots !
I was wondering about how to treat Snap's pilot ability when using Pattern Analyser.
The thing is, Pattern Analyser moves "Check Pilot Stress" back after the "Perform Action" step.
Snap's card says he gets a boost "After executing a manoeuver".
So, in the case that Snap is receiving a stress form his move or from PtL, does he get a free boost?
Or do we wait for all the steps to be done, including the one pushed back by PA? In that case, Snap IS stressed and can't do the boost action, I am right?
Snap Wexley and Pattern Analyser
Pattern Analzyer moves the Check Pilot Stress step to after the Perform Action step. It does not move the Perform Action step to before the Check Pilot Stress step. The card says to move the step, it says nothing about extending the window of maneuver execution.

I can see where he's coming from because I had a similar thought the first time I read the card.
The logic is that if one part step of executing a manoeuvre has not yet been completed, that it could be argued (quite reasonably, in fact) that you haven't finished executing the manoeuvre yet. Only by completing the 'check pilot stress' step would you constitute having finished executing the manoeuvre, and thus triggering Snap's ability. It's not illogical, but it isn't possible in practice. The manoeuvre must be completed for the game to move on to the next step. In this case, after 'Execute Manoeuvre' comes 'Perform Action'.
The ability is poorly worded for what it does, and yet I would suggest that we all know what it actually does in practice. If it makes it easier to understand, consider that the 'Check Pilot Stress' step is removed from the 'Execute Maneuver' phase and added in after 'Perform Action', so it no longer counts as being part of actually executing a manoeuvre.
Not sure if that helps or muddies things!
The preview article for the Heroes of the Resistance box clearly states that Pattern Analyzer allows Snap to use his ability on a red maneuver. Now if only we could trust the rules accuracy of the articles...

I don't think that was ever in question.

What was in that preview article is consistent with what the card instructs to do. The card doesn't tell you to make the "Perform Action" action step part of executing a maneuver. It instructs you to move "Check Pilot" stress to a later point in the player's activation then where it is normally.
It's nothing like the SLAM and Bomb article where the example given contradicted the rules.

Well as I can see from where that extension-of-phase argument comes from (executing a maneuver cannot be completed without going though all its steps - in this case one step is delayed) that would create a scenario where we have 2 game phases active at once (Action step cause it is its turn and Execute Maneuver cause its not finished yet) and that would be just stupid so i support the version that Check Pilot Stress is just ripped from Execute Maneuver and act on its own for this round.
