Boardwars Winter 2017 Imperial Assault Vassal Tournament - Details

I know I'm going against the grain but I still think a play to completion would be best. People are worried it would not accurately capture the "Tournament Experience", but the time limits are only on the books to keep single day, multi round tournaments from going too late. In a week by week tourney, we do have the time to play to completion. While it is possible that people could use that time to slow play and/or fortress, I think it is impossible to police a time limit in this format, and a round limit would also significantly differ from the "Tournament Experience" we're trying to preserve.

Since they are the main points of contention, both the game time limit and the anchorhead bar map are subject to change.

I am currently inclined to increase the roundtime limit to 90 minutes or at least 3 rounds completed and only enforce it if one of the players insists on it. If both players want to play until completion, the gamestate after completion will be used to determine the winner. I still am against forcing to play to completion. Since some participants might not have enough time to dedicate more 2 hours per week to playing the game online and also since offline tournaments also have a gametime limit, I think it's best to keep it.

About the Anchorhead Bar. Jeppe did some testruns with users from the discord chat and results have been mixed. I still haven't got my copy of the Luke Skywalker and Alliance Rangers Packs, so I can't switch over to that right now without knowing if they will be actually better or worse than the Anchorhead Bar. If the map pool changes, all participants that signed up until then will be notified and the tournament rules will be updated accordingly.

In the meantime, do send in feedback for these 2 points. Every new comment/mail helps in figuring out the best approach for everyone.

Played on Jedi Luke's map yesterday, and I can report that the deployment zones are still pretty unbalanced, with the Sarlacc tile right outside of a deployment zone that severely inhibits deployment options, and it is loaded with awkward difficult and impassable terrain. Additionally, one of the objectives is a "Considered to have additional VP" set, which they haven't used before and is especially confusing now that Jabba can spend VP. Can he spend VP you are only "Considered to have"?

Anchorhead bar is fine I think. I've played it probably a half a dozen times at least and don't feel like the objectives are out of whack or one deployment is better than the other.

I agree the wording on the new maps is a little obscure or confusing though.

90mins is plenty I think
