Looking for Players: Vassal Corellian Campaign

By Rekkon, in Star Wars: Armada

Answers from FFG dev Mike:

1. Fighter limit after first turn: one third of current fleet. Can use existing fleet if fighters exceed limit but cannot purchase more.

2. When are fleets public: after builds happen, before assaults declared.

3. Campaign points earned for destroying a base on a +0 location: 1.

4. Keep leftover points from initial fleet as resources: no.

5. What happens if all Rebel ships flee on Show of Force: stations count as destroyed.

6. What happens if an Imperial ship flees on Hyperlane Raid: Rebels get token for resources.

7. Having initiative means being first player, not getting to choose going first/second.

8. Battery and anti-squadron values on the Armed Station card are transposed.

If player are willing, I would still like to do our secret fleets approach.

Thanks a lot for the clarifications !

I actually had this sentence in mind before reading yours :)

Our fleets are almost ready, so I guess we could get to the base assignment set-up at your earliest convenience.

It's good to have no. 8 clarified.

Correction on 3. You only earn the +VP value of the location. So killing a base on a +0 planet gives no campaign points to the attacker.

I don't get how #1 is supposed to work.

If I spend Points on Fighters, that increases the Fleet Value, which increases the amount of Fighter limit (1/3) I have available..... Doesn't it?

I think it means you can't buy squadrons if this means you would cross the 1/3 threshold after purchase.

Indeed, there are niche cases where you are currently 'maxed out' but the new fleet value would allow you to buy a new squad, for example if you are at 128 / 400 and you purchase a TIE fighter squad, you are at 136 / 408, which is eligible ...

I think (well, I hope) it should not be too annoying in practice.

But that's just it... The case you show there - I don't have the points to include it, until I include it, then its legal... So can I illegally include it to make it legal?

Because until I add it.... I don't have the points to add it.... So how can I add it?

Regardless, I apologise... This is not a Rules thread, nor am I involved in this campaign, so I'll just skedaddle away now... Sincere, sincere apologies.

You should not apologize, we are talking about the campaign about information that could be useful for other players. Indeed it would be more appropriate in the rules forum, but it's also fine here as it was part of the overall discussion about the campaign.

I also would like to use the 'think on your feet' variant where fleets are only made public as they meet in battle.

Thanks for pinning down those details Admiral. The 3rd fleet is assembled and ready for inspection.

I was posting really quickly during a break at FFG, but the full explanation is 1/3 of whatever you are fielding can be fighters. If, due to ship loses, your fleet gets put into an illegal state (more than 1/3 fighters), you can continue to field it as-is but cannot purchase more fighters until balance is restored. You would have to buy new ships (or lose squadrons) first.

Looks like I am the Imperial Grand Admiral. Lists are ready on our side, so I am ready to meet with my Rebel counterpart to place bases and declare round 1 assaults. This week I am free Monday-Thursday ~1600-2400 CST. After that I am unavailable until Sunday afternoon/evening.

Good get 'em Admiral. For the peace of the Empire!

We've analyzed their attack, sir, and there is a danger. Should I have your ship standing by ?

Hi Rekkon ! It sounds like I should be your rebel counterpart. Lists are ready on our side too.

I just need to gather recommendations from my admirals about their preferences for base and mission assignment so that we can do the setting and assaulting in a single session. How about tomorrow evening ?

We should discuss the threshold between what's interesting enough for the community, or what should be discussed only between us 6 to not flood the forum.

I think keeping this thread alive only makes sense if we also provide (short) reports about the action to the community.

Tuesday evening works for me. I should be free after 1700 CST.

That sounds fine. The Imperials have an e-mail chain for internal discussion, so we could just put AAR stuff here if that makes sense.

You're all farther west, so, how about 8 PM Central ? (9 PM Eastern, 6 PM pacific) ?

Should we use this forum thread for announcements (+ team internal communications) ? Or something different ?

Works for me.

I am fine using this thread for whatever. Obviously each team needs something else for private communications, and I plan to update my underlings that way after each Grand Admiral meeting. Individuals can post or PM each other to schedule individual battles.

I am sure JJ will put forward Discord as an option. If he wants to configure the channels for our use, I am fine with that.

Sweet! Promoted to underling! I'm going to go make a badge to prevent me from tweaking my list again.

Watching my e-mail and in the Vassal lobby.

Players have been paired.

Hyperlane Raid on Talus: DeDios vs. Fanfan
Show of Force on Polanis: JJ vs. SkyCake
Rebel Assault on Tralus: Rekkon vs. emfrank72

Man, both Talus and Tralus.

Kath Scarlett's gonna be pissed....

It's part of our strategy too !

"Admiral, a rebel force has been spotted on Talus ! We should send a fleet to intercept them now"

"or was it Tralus ?

Talus? Tralus? Talus? Tralus?

Let's call the whole thing off..

Come on, those two are like two planetoids in an orbit around one another. One fleet should be sufficient to pacify both.

Someone's got to pacify the Red Woman. Perhaps that's what the second fleet is for... Giant Kegger....

Grand Admiral meeting tonight. Fanfan, what time works for you? If we meet early and quickly enough, it might be possible for free parties to play their matches immediately.
