Looking for Players: Vassal Corellian Campaign

By Rekkon, in Star Wars: Armada

Looking for four more players (three Rebel, one Imperial) to play a round of CC via Vassal. Both of us are CST (GMT-6). Post or shoot me a PM if interested.

May I ask a little more about the pace of the sessions and time slots for the games you have in mind ?

I bought CC for the extra objectives and squadrons, but then I have read the rules, and feel more and more drawn by it :)

Open to negotiation, though my first guess would be one turn a week or so, playing evenings or weekends. We are not much past the "hey, let us gather more players to run the campaign!" step.

Please let me know if you find you are missing some features, or if you need some input regarding how to make things work in the module.

I'd be interested. I'm pacific time zone GMT-8. I work a lot of weekends and some evenings but am often free Thursday evenings and Sunday afternoons. Other times are available but my schedule is often changing.

sign me up, im mst gmt-7, preference is imperial but can play rebel too.... fairly flexible on time....cool!!!!

Yep, I think you can count me in ! Boston here, but I actually prefer playing late (when the kids sleep), no side preference, so I expect I will go with rebels !

I have until late February before I start working seasonally crazy hours. If we can get 'er done by then, I'd love to jump in. I have played more rebel lists lately.

I've only played a little bit on Vassal, but have it generally figured out.

'Help me Vassal. You're my only hope." ... of getting a campaign played in NW North Dakota.

Williston? I grew up in Golden Valley. I have the same problem now, only in NW Minnesota.

That is six by my count. Emfrank72, are you fine playing Rebel?

Minot isn't horribly desolate, but the game store nearly laughed at me when I asked about Armada stock.

How do we get together on it?

I actually know a few Armada players in Minot. Want me to put you in touch with them?

I suppose we can either coordinate via posts and PMs here or trade e-mail addresses and go about things that way. Any preference?

Our timezones are not that spread out either, so going realtime with TeamSpeak or something is a possibility too.

You can use the discord server (linked in my sig) if you need it. There are a few Vassal voice channels set up on it.

I'm good with any side.

Tempting!

Still looking for a Rebel? I find myself with a shitton of free time.

Metric or Imperial?

We are already at six players, but we shall see if anyone changes their mind in a moment.

The next step is to make sure we do not have a hideous skill imbalance. The current rosters are:

Empire

Rekkon

JJs Juggernaut

SkyCake

Rebel

emfrank72

Fanfan

deDios

Obviously JJ is a heavyweight, and I rate myself somewhere in the average to veteran range. I have played deDios twice so just lacking data for SkyCakeIsALie, EMPFrank and ChadraFanFan.

I'd rate myself similarly to you Rekkon.

I used to be heavyweight in 2015 (won all tournaments I attended except 3rd a Gencon and 2nd at Worlds), but I barely played in 2016 (although I have been well aware of the meta). I also only have casual Vassal experience.

Just a suggestion here : I think it might be viable to have a 4-player roster on each side, with the 4th player being the overall admiral / back-up player to keep the schedule tight.

Also, competitiveness is a bit more secondary in this kind of environment than in a tournament, but indeed, a major imbalance in skill or commitment from one team would be detrimental to the overall experience of everyone.

I would rate my skills as average as I have won 50 percent of the time and my best win was a 8-3. I think 4 players per side would be ok too in case some one needs to take a week off.

You and JJ together. " I have a bad feeling about this. "

I am in the proficient, but inexperienced category.

Then I think the current rosters might be too unbalanced for comfort.

So, we could either try to reconfigure the rosters, but it's annoying not to respect everyone's faction/buddy wishes,

or we could also gather more people wanting to play the campaign on Vassal and try to build 2 x 2 teams with better matched experience levels.

I have won a fair number of tournaments, but I credit that to the "medium fish in a small pond" effect. "I won a Regional!" sounds impressive if I stop the story before the "it had five players" and "only happened due to clutch double doubles on two red dice" details.

In any event, I am not opposed to giving it a try with eight or spinning off separate campaigns if there is sufficient interest (though I really want to play with six). The obvious issues with 8 are the scaling of communication and trying to organize everyone for a potential All-Out Offensive.

Depending on SkyCake's skill, we could also swap deDios to Empire as a JJ offset (no offense). Biggs would be a good boost to the Rebel side if we went eight.

Well screw you guys. I'll make my own campaign. With blackjack. And hookers!

Actually, forget the campaign.

I would be willing to switch sides if it would help.

Well I rarely play imperials. I dont think we are looking an crazy severe imbalance, but we could switch Skycake over if he agrees.

So what is everyone's preference?

1. Play with six, swapping deDios to Imperial and SkyCake to Rebel.

2. Play with eight, putting Biggs on Rebel and finding one more Imperial.

3. Play with eight, putting Biggs on Rebel, moving deDios to Imperial and finding one more Rebel.

4. Find one more player and run two separate 2v2 campaigns.
