Echo, The Colonel and Omega Leader

Looking for a way to mix my favorite ship, Phantom, with the new Imperial powerhouse the Defender for the regional season. I am looking for some advice with:

Echo - Veteran Instincs, Fire Control System, Agent Kallus and ACD.

Colonel Vessery - X7 and Crack Shot

Omega Leader - Juke and Comm Rellay

Total: 99

Echo and Omega would "paint" targets for Vessery. The Colonel was downgraded from Juke to Crackshot to ensure a single point of initiative.

Any advice or criticism?

These days you can get away with a leaner echo. I use adaptability instead of VI. There isn't a major need to hit ps 8 with echo because everything else these days is lower ps.

Adaptability is free and gets you shooting before all the defenders floating around.

I also am done with kallus. I don't often find a good target to declare kallus on and usually forget I have kallus anyways.

You could use a leaner echo and fit a second defender. I am trying swarm leader in vessery and a second x7 to give him more dice and some blocking.

Just some ideas. Nothing proven on a table yet.

I wouldn't underestimate the amount of pilots at PS 8. Inquisitor, Omega Leader, Miranda Doni, Corran Horn, Poe sometimes, and plenty others. I personally wouldn't fly Echo without VI or Decoy with other high PS pilots. Sure, sometimes it won't matter because of an all generic list or defenders might be lower. But I don't think it's worth the risk with so many good pilots at 8.

That being said, I like the list and have flown very similar. Kallus can be good against a two large ship list but sometimes it just doesn't get much use if you end up killing the Kallus target pretty quickly. Definitely more effective on Echo than Whisper though. Good ole Intelligence Agent has saved me a few times though from being in terrible places and you can sometimes sacrifice your shot with Echo to set up a block on a high PS ace so your other ships can blow him away. This list can struggle with the high PS aces so Int Agent can really be effective there. I also run this with VI on Vessery so they can all fly at PS 8 and stay out of each other's way, but Crack Shot has its uses.

How about A Score to Settle with Vessery? We could have a fully modified attacking Vessery (to be used against the enemy's primary target) that still keeps his focus for defense.

Kallus is a small counter against Dengar, since it can be used on defense.
