CC conquest points

By Flengin, in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions

Greetings all

Probably a dumb question (I'm tired) but here goes.

If you win a fight at a location that contains an enemy base/outpost and that location has a big fat +0 for it's conquest points bonus, it seems to me that RAW you get no conquest points for winning that fight. You get to flatten the base/outpost, but no points.

Is this right? And if not, can anyone point me towards where it says otherwise?

It just seems a little odd given that if there was no base/outpost there you'd get the one point for it.

I think you always win 1 campaign point as the winner except for special assaults that specifically say you get none.

I'm not sure this is right but as far as I can tell:

The ASSAULTING team on a Base gains campaign points equal to the location's VICTORY BONUS VALUE.

The ASSAULTING team on an unoccupied location gains one point if they win.

The DEFENDER gains one point for any battle they win whether its a base or not.

Therefor if you are assaulting a base on say, Centerpoint, and destroy it, it seems you wouldn't get and campaign points.

Just re-read:

Scoring Battles; Page 9

"The player who wins the battle earns at least one campaign point for his team."

So that makes much more sense. The Victory Bonus is just that, a bonus to the one point.

Looks like we have a contradiction.

Page 9 states that the winner earns at least one point. But page 10 states that they get the Victory Bonus value for the system, which can be zero.

This exactly. I would have expected p10 to expand and systematically include all the rules for scoring conquest points. But it says nothing about base assaults scoring 1 plus the bonus. Hence my confusion.

Might be one for the FAQ if we can't reach a consensus?

So if I'm defending a base worth 2 points and I win do I get 2 points or 1?

1 point. At least that much is clear :D

Unless, of course, everything in the Determine Battle Effects section is in addition to the one point scored in the Scoring Battles section

In which case it's 2 points.

Unless, of course, we're supposed to infer that, as the victorious base assault points in the Determine Battle Effects section are listed as Victory Bonus , we're to add them and only them to the 1 point listed in the Scoring Battles section and all other victories are to ignore that section

In which case it's 1 point. :P

More seriously though, I'm starting to get the feeling that the points are listed as Victory Bonus not because they are a bonus in addition to the one point but rather because they are a bonus in addition to flattening an opponents base. Still not convinced either way though.

Until I hear otherwise from FFG, I'm going to play it as Base Assaults only get the points on the map. The campaign already seems like it could be over too quick and I think this is how they intended it to be.
