I wonder where ffg got the names of the ties striker pilots from. I did some research, and I couldn't find them. Are these just fictional names made by ffg? If no where can I found a source? I don't even know the name of the fighter squadron on Scarif. So, the question is: how much do we know about these tie striker pilots? Are the names in the game offical?
Tie Striker Pilot names
I haven't watched Rogue One (yet), but my guess would be they made them up.
i think all the quotation mark names are just made up.
There might be a couple that arent but i dont recognize any of them elsewhere.
They made them up, unless it was somewhere in the novelization but I doubt that.
*Insert Archer Top gun alt art card that got posted somewhere on the forums but I can't find*
I think that's where they got their inspiration...
Apparently during testing, they use codenames for some canonical characters and ships (U-Wing was "Scissors", Jyn was "Huntress"), so I assume part of it comes from that, and the fact that people just come up with nicks for Generic-Uniques (if that makes any sense) like "Omega Ace" anyway, so they decided to give them thematic names rather than say "Scarif Leader", "Black Squadron Ace", etc.
Somebody in the minis department has a lot of fun with "Duchess", "Countdown" and Pure Sabacc.

Most quotation nicknames are based on Legends. The TIE Phantom, TIE S/F and TIE Striker pilots are all made-up, though.

Being Legends doesn't hold up for "Zeb" or "Snap". I think you'll see X-Wing use quotation marks whenever a nickname or call-sign shows up in a name. Titles, full names, and generic descriptors are not enclosed in quotes.
Named Imperial fighter pilots are almost all just call-signs in X-Wing so quoted names are much more common in that faction.

I have to admit I wish the Imps had "real" names. I mean, the Rebels get Luke Skywalker, not "Red 5." Notwithstanding that they are cogs in the Imperial War Machine, there have got to be some Legends personalities they could tuck in ships.
In terms of the 3 factions, the Imps seem to be short on non-generic/faceless crew and pilots.
Although, since we have "Pure Sabacc," "Idiot's Array" would be a hoot.

Some of the Imperial pilots that use nicknames in X-Wing do have names. "Howlrunner" is a cooler and more memorable name for a TIE fighter pilot than Civé Rashon would ever be. As cool as Dodson Makraven sounds, I like the ring of "Night Beast" better.
Why omega leader wasn't named lockdown, I will never know.
I thought this thread was going to be about giving the Styker pilots new names and i just though
"... we call Duchess Sterling around here tbh"
