Party bus flies again (?) - list critique and help

By JD0GE, in X-Wing Squad Lists

So I bought my first IG-2000 and the shadow caster. Will be buying hounds tooth next week (next year). And I thought of this list, shared it with my x wing buddy and he said it's dirty disgusting.

Morelo 34 (50)

- hlc 7

- ion projector 2

- bossk 2

- dengar 3

- IG-88D 1

- inertial dampeners 1

IG-88B 36 (50)

- ptl 3

- Mangler cannon 4

- advanced Sensors 3

- Autothrusters 2

- IG-2000

- Glitterstim 2

If I can get your input for possible changes or weaknesses I need to improve I'd be happy. I've never flown brobots or party bus before but I have a good idea on how they should be played, having experience against them.

That does seem pretty nasty. How effective is ion projector? I've never used it, nor have I seen anyone else use it. Is it mainly to fill points?

I've never used it before, but my thinking was to get in the middle of their ships, shoot +block, pull a 0 manoeuvre if bossk didn't happen, keep blocking/shooting and then use dampeners. All this time if anyone bumps me, they (potentially) take ion making easier target M aggressor

While PTL/Advanced Sensors on Iggy is great, it does a lot better with Iggy C. I'd personally trade it out for FCS and another EPT, but it's up to you.

What purpose does Dengar serve? While I get that he is there for if Iggy goes down, I think that you might be able to find a better crew for the slot. Perhaps Tactician, perhaps Zuckuss, since you already are going to have more stress than you can ever clear.

Either way, it looks devastating as is. I just think that it can end up being more devastating.

I cannot speak for the ig, but if you're spending 7 pts on hlc with moralo's ability, then you'd want her outside, and not in the thick of things. So that might make the 3 points in projector and dampeners a little meh. Also, bossk and dengar are redundant, you wont need a target lock with dengar on board. Latts or gonk would give the 666 some beef. Gunner (not really with igB in the mix), party bus crew, or EU will help bring the guns to bear.

Moralo is an amazing party bus. I like flying Boba as his wingman but IG88B looks like a good fit as well.

I don't think that he needs beef on the 666. Iggy is going to be the tanky one, while Moralo is just going to curb stomp people. And if he stays on the periphery, then the HLC is fine, and he'll be taking less fire anyways.

Since he doesn't need to be beefy,I'd use Zuckuss and Bossk. He'll have stress, but he doesn't care. Make your attack, miss. TL, focus (for defense or offense), and then on the fully modified shot, Zuckuss all their evade results.

If you are keeping the HLC, I'd suggest ditching Dengar not Bossk. While Dengar is usually better, you'll want more rerolls, which Bossk's target lock provides. While 2 will usually be enough, there will be times that you want to reroll all four.

Ok, thanks for the feedback everyone. First off, I don't currently own the mist hunter (will be getting for b-day in 10 days hopefully woop woop) but I see now zuckuss is an important member of the party. Secondly, in response to Kreen, I love ptl, especially on the Iggy, for action economy with the number of greens on the dial makes it great. Third, thebrettski, while I see ion projectors won't fit the play style, I like the dampeners as a one time 0 manoeuvre as it gives more options and I can catch people off guard, as they often forget I can do it once (especially funny after 5+ stress tokens build up) and it can help with general positioning and potential blocks.

Here is the updated list:

IG-88B 36 (49)

- ptl 3

- mangler cannon 4

- fcs 2

- Autothrusters 2

- IG-2000

- Glitterstim 2

Moralo Eval 34 (47)

- HLC 7

- maneuvering fins 1

- Bossk 2

- Zuckuss 1

- IG-88D 1

- Inertial dampeners 1

This improved list gives me initiative bid as well as a clearer play style. IG is the brawler and Moralo makes best use of the 180 arc HLC at range 3, circling enemies with endless hard 3s with the added option of banking 3 thanks to fins, as well as being able to stay put for a turn. He hits harder thanks to Zuckuss rerolls. As for Iggy, the advanced Sensors have been changed to fire control system for better use of actions (tl+focus, shoot, use tl, miss, shoot again with tl and potentially focus). Thebrettski I went with fins instead of EU because I don't intend to use actions on the ship and for 1 point potentially getting things in arc is better than wasted 4 points.

If you want a party bus that flies right up through the middle, Slaver or Bossk might be better. Moralo really wants to go around the edge of the fight.

However, ion projector (or Anti-Pursuit Lasers) can be good to keep someone off your tail, and in a bumpfest.

All Party Buses should hug the edge and come in on the side towards the fighting.

Agreed. i never stated that i wanted to fly the thing up the middle as hinted at by the range 3 180° HLC.
