Help with NPC

By gndmgp01, in Star Wars: Force and Destiny RPG

In our last session, the PC's were used as unaware and unwilling bait to rescues some Rebel VIP's from an Imperial Prison/workcamp. They pulled out an old NPC friend from our previous campaign, as well as three Rebel VIP's, including Crix Madine (canon smanon) from the solitary confinement wing. They also rescued from this area of the prison the only other prisoner there, an Ugnaught. He kinda tagged along with the group, and they didn't look into his history or why he was imprisoned. In fact, one player said, "He's with the other Rebs, so he must be helpful!". Eventually, this Ugnaught got into a scrap with a PC's recently acquired 'pet', one of the bird-lizards from the Onslaught at Arda I module, and he lost his hand to a bite. And with the flip of a destiny point, the Ugnaught now has a cybernetic hand with swiss-army like tools built in (the group has decided he's there new mechanic), courtesy of the Rebellion.

I think this is all amazing and I'm going with it. Here's my request: What was he in prison for? I want to have some small quirk with this new NPC that suggests what he did to get into prison and in solitary confinement, but am not sure where to go with it. Thoughts?

He bit someone's hand off.

Arson, wire fraud or sabotage are crimes of a technical bent if your npc had those skills. It would be interesting to do the SW equivalent of social security fraud - collecting the pension checks for storm trooper retirees that the empire doesn't know are dead. Not sure the tone of your campaign. Something like crashing his speeder into the grocery store because he's souped it up and compromised an aileron. Or in a love affair with the governors daughter

Maybe he got blamed/convicted for sabotage that he didn’t do? Maybe he discovered who was actually doing the sabotage, and that person was politically powerful and so they framed him instead?

stat him as an engineer:saboteur

he was a rebel saboteur/bomber (military targets only), he planted a bomb at an imperial facility to disable a planetary shield generator so a rebel strike team could raid the imperial facility, the strike team was decimated anyway and since he no longer had an exfiltration strategy (he was supposed to leave with the strike team that died) he got caught. His initial interrogation proved fruitless because he actually didn't know anything useful for them to torture out of him, which they suspect is the case but just to be sure, they kept him in solitary for 3 months (no contact other than food slid through a slot) as an alternative interrogation technique, because I imagine that you'd want to talk to anyone about anything they wanted to talk about after not talking with anyone for 3 months.

I think sabotage is the way to go with this guy. I like your idea of why he is in solitary, EliasWindrider.

@keshalyi, the tone is not very serious. We liken our campaign to Archer (the animated series) in that the PC's do ridiculous things for ridiculous reasons and somehow always end up on the up side of things.

He may have to be a biter too.
