I've only had time to glance through most of the rulebook for the campaign, but I was wondering if the base defense objectives are used along with a normal objective or if it's put into the selection pool with the other objectives. Because honestly if it's put into the selection pool then who in their right mind would pick one? As is the blue objectives are all that's ever picked where I play locally because the reds and yellows are much worse.
CC objectives
Re-Glance through
If a Base location is under attack, the defender must choose one of the 3 Base Defense Objectives. No other location or fleet based objectives are used.
Simple as That
Ok thanks haha. Man those objectives are brutal too.
Can the old objectives be used in CC or is it only the new 12?
Fleets have the full suite of objectives to pick their 3 from, as per normal. There is no limiting factor there.
Just be aware that you won't always get to pick from those 3 objectives... As certain areas mandate certain missions.
Certain areas mandate a mix of greens and your picks, too.
Ok thanks dras, I grabbed all new because they are fun and new haha. Got to try out base defense planetary ion cannon because my opponent hit a base of mine, that objective is super brutal.
Out of curiosity, are you allowed to 'skilled spacer' green objectives? Can I force a Independent Station battle at Raiders Point? A base defense?
"One of his fleets objective cards with another from the same category"
The Green Objective Cards do not belong to your Fleet.
So No.
OK that makes sense, it references ownership. I was confused because at one point it does call then a new category.
There are three types of green objectives that come into play in various ways:
Special Assault : Show of Force and Hyperlane Raid are only used when the attacker declares a special assault
Base Defense : Armed Station, Ion Cannon, & Fighter Wing are chosen by the defender when the other player is attacking a location with a base
Terrain : Asteroids, Nebula Outskirts, & Independent Station are added to the list of defender objectives based on what cards are mentioned for the location being attacked on the map. For example, if the attacker has chosen Talfaglio (and there is not a base on that spot) the defender picks the Asteroids objective plus two of his normal fleet objectives for the attacker to pick from.

You're right. I'll edit my post. That makes them just about completely useless.

"During a battle before the first player chooses objectives, the second player may spend a Skilled Spacers token to temporally replace one of his fleets objective cards with one other objective card of the same category, and 'may do so multiple times by spending multiple tokens."
No suggestion that player 1 has any use for them at all.

I wouldn't say that they're useless. You are going to face at least 2 different fleets, possibly three over the course of the campaign. These fleets will also be dynamically changing over the course of the campaign, and could easily find yourself in a situation where the enemy has tailored their fleet to punish one of your objectives. Skilled spacers offers you the only way to change the objectives you set at the beginning of the campaign, and the only way to adapt to changes in the enemy fleets. Also, if you make a mistake in objective choice at the beginning of the game, without skilled spacers you're stuck with it until the end.
