Beginner rule questions

By Attackmack, in Star Wars: Destiny

I caved in...Could do little else when I noticed my local store held 2 Kylo and 1 Rey starters left so I bought the lot.

So now Im the happy manager of yet another Star Wars sinkhole to pour my money into! Yay, win!

Anyways, im watching the tutorial and reading the rules while doing a solo testgame between one of each starter sets.

And Fin's ability made me wonder how attaching upgrades work.

The one thing I cant seem to find an answer to is if upgrades can be attached to any character or only characters of the same type (color) and allegiance (hero/villain)?

Unless otherwise noted on the card you can attach the upgrade to any color or character. The color and Hero/Villain restriction is only when building the deck. Finn lets you bypass that a little bit.

Upgrades might say "spot a blue character," or "blue character only". Finn ignores those restrictions as long as the upgrade is a weapon.

Right-o! Thanks for the quick response! More to come, im sure :)

Remember, you can only include Red in the deck however, so effectively only Red Villain weapons in addition to Hero/Neutral. Another thing to remember, he can not take blue specific (or other non yellow) upgrades that are not weapons.

He can use other color neutral and hero weapons as long as you have a way to get them into your deck. Rey for example as his partner.

Ohh, and you can build red villain vehicles too.

Not just Red Villain weapons, he allows you to include Red Villian Vehicles as well.

EDIT - you updated as I clarifying. :-D

Sorry, I kept adding...lol It can be a bit confusing for beginners for sure. Took me a number of games to get it right.

I was talking about play restrictions, not deck building restrictions. Finn has two abilities.

Ok new question:

When resolving "Awakening" can other modifier dice be added to the result?

So if I, for example, have two +2 RANGED dice in my pool and I exhaust Awakening to use one of those dice as a normal 2 RANGED, can the other +2 be added to it?

Good question, the way the card reads if you resolved one die you should be able to tag along the other ones with the same symbol right? Off to the FAQ!!

Awakening says to resolve one die. You only get to resolve a single die.

So this

A player cannot use modifiers when resolving a die through a card effect, unless the card allows them to resolve multiple dice of the same symbol.

Seems Awakening says

Action - Exhaust this support to resolve one of your dice showing a modified side (a side with a +) as if it was not modified (did not have the +).

I would say the answer is no, you only are allowed to resolve one die not all of the same symbol.

Correct??

The card specifically says to resolve one die, so one die is sadly all you can do.

The card specifies that one die showing a modified side can be resolved as if it was not modified.

The exact text is:

"ACTION - Exhaust this support to resolve one of your dice showing a modified side (a side with a +) as if it was not modified (did not have the +).

This sounds to me as if the die, for all intents and purposes, is supposed to be treated as a normal (non modified) die. In which case it could be modified by other dice.

Initially I was sure it mean to only resolve a single die but reading it again and thinking about it im not so sure anymore.

EDIT:

As I was typing this the youtube video in the background started talking about this very card :D

Seems at least as Team Covenant treats it as only a single die, no additional modifiers and considering their coverage of the game and its development im gonna follow suit and not allow modifiers.

The only way to attach a modifier die to another die is by resolving it. When a card says you may resolve ONE die, you only get ONE die.
