Pretty much this. I don't know why but the Dreadnought is my favorite ship design in Star Wars. Though the Eclipse class Super Star Destroyer is a close second. (hell if FFG just stole the design and made it a large in new canon, that would be gravy.)

Rebel Medium: MC-40 Light Cruiser
Rebel Large: MC-75
Imperial Flotilla: Hmm perhaps some of the Imperial boarding shuttles
Imperial Small: Quasar-Fire Carrier
Imperial Medium: Strike Cruiser or Vindicator Cruiser
Imperial Large: Tector-Class or Venator-Class
"Privateer" or "Mercenary" ships-ships not aligned with Imperial or Rebel factions that can be "hired" to add to your fleet
"Captured" ships-ships not of your own faction that you can add to your fleet
I love fighters as much as the next guy, but let's hold off for a wave or two.
Basically, the Lancer frigate will never happen. In fact, it has probably been explicitly scrapped by Disney.
Something called a "Lancer frigate" is mentioned in the newcanon novel Before The Awakening.
However, it's used by the First Order rather than the Empire - and may look a little different if it ever gets imagery.
The Raider is the replacement as the "Anti-Squadron" Small Ship. As the Lancer was a bit Bigger than a CR90 which is what the Raider was made to Rival in X-wing and be the same scale as. It is also FFG's Original Ship design so that's pretty cool.

Problem with that is they gave squadrons so much hull it's just not enough as-is.
I wanna see the stuff from Scarif! The MC75, the Hammerhead, the Brahatok and whatever else cool stuff was on the screen that I missed.
For the Empire? I dunno, an ISD 1 expansion that gives us another ISD with a Krennic officer/admiral and some neat upgrades? I'm of the opinion that ISDs should pretty much be the only thing in the Imperial arsenal since that's pretty much all they ever seem to use.

Add a Venator class that can be used by the Rebels and Empire both interchangably (or just for the Empire which is understandable). An old ship that finds its way into the mold of both fleets.
You could also add some kind of old modified CIS ship to the Rebels to use such as a Recusant class or Munificent Class. I believe the Rebels in the book "Lords of the Sith" were using a Recusant Class frigate around Ryloth if I remember correctly.

Corellian Gunships are seriously lacking these days.
Just in case some of you who don't know many of the ships listed in this topic like the Hammerhead and Quasar Fire Carrier have been made by Mel's Miniatures on Shapeways.
Granted they're not official but you can still get them.
While I love all the side factions, I would rather see them come out as "neutral" ships, that can be taken by either faction, or mixed together for another fleet

I've always liked the Dreadnought heavy cruiser..dunno why i just do. But I'm not sure what role it would play if they made one.
I'd like to see the Light carrier and since it was in Rebels I expect we will see it, again not sure what role it would play since there is no squadron capacity limit that would require the need for a dedicate ship to just carry fighters around.
Maybe it could have a upgrade allowing the player to increase point allotment to fighters?
It could be an Imperial ship with a "captured vessel" modification card to allow it to be rebel too.

The quasar would probably be cheaper than a light cruiser but with 3-4 squadrons.
I'm really iffy on the "captured vessel" thing. Unless of course they want to start giving imps back the Corellian Corvettes and nebulon B's they keep stealing.
Since this game is so hard on for squadrons...only makes sense to add the Venator.
For the "Out of left field" option.......
Well, just recently, we had the Qaz-Class Star Destroyed Canonized, with almost no information available on it... "A Baton for anyone to pick up" as Pablo Hidalgo mentioned... (Catalyst)
And there is also the newly named Razor-Class Frigate to consider as well... (Weapon of a Jedi)
When they're ready for Experimental Retrofits to go over to the Rebel side, of course, CC-7700 s and CC-2200 s are canon in Name at the very least....
How about a combat-ready flotilla? Not sure of any actual in-universe ships, but how about a pair of of Decimator-sized ships, but with something like a slot of either Turbolasers or Ordnance instead of the Fleet Support?
If the ability to spam such things as Assault Proton Torpedoes is too powerful, how about a Weapons Team as an offensive slot?
